Another hot day, today’s high was 108. We decided to use the pool in the late afternoon rather than the early evening so we could watch the two hour Iron Chef special. I think Sean liked the warmer temperatures swimming earlier in the day, but he didn’t like the bright sunlight. After the swim, Sean fell into one of his giggling sessions that kept us all amused. Somehow, just smiling at him triggered off the giggles.

Normally I don’t base my life on TV schedules, but the Iron Chef shows are always interesting. If you have never seen an episode, it is a Japanese program dubbed in english featuring a battle between one of 4 Iron Chefs and a guest chef to cook the best dishes based on a themed ingredient announced at the beginning of the show. Today’s special was different in that if featured two of the Iron Chefs going head-to-head and included three different ingredients announced ahead of time. The three ingredients were bananas, pork, and live turtles. We had to turn our heads when they sliced open the live turtles, but it was fascinating watching the chefs prepare the exotic dishes. In the end, the team French beat out team Chinese with a tie-breaker vote, and well worth two hours of our time.
