I’m wondering if the Taliban is the true enemy they are being led up to be. From what I have read, they are mostly semi-literate and poorly educated. They couldn’t run a country, much less a terrorist organization, without outside help. If we were to merely close off the borders of Afghanistan, they would probably collapse. What I am really worried about is the Pakistan is behind the Taliban and the terrorist attacks. The majority of the people in Pakistan support the Taliban. Even though their leader is siding with the U.S., he may not be in power for very long. I wonder how safe our troops would be to be based in Pakistan. What is even worse is that Pakistan is a nuclear power. At least, it’s something to think about.
Here is something more to think about, six options for dealing with the terrorist attack. Before reading this, I had assumed that a prolonged war against terrorism is the way to go. I hadn’t fully thought out the consequences of that action.
