We had rain today. The rain storm seen in the world series didn’t hit us until much later. I don’t think it has rained here since July. Driving home from work, part of the sky was dark, part of the sky was reddish-orange, and a rainbow was visible. Fascinating stuff when you are used to blue skies.

I was playing with Sean on the sofa when he head-butted me. He caught me across the eyebrow with the back of his head. He cried for a few seconds, but I was in pain for quite a bit longer. We both recovered and had fun reading together and playing with his toys.

Today was devoted to yard work and to cleaning my office. After last Sunday’s effort, I only had some light work to do out in the yard. Cleaning the office was a different matter. I spent several hours going through old bills and paperwork.

Sean had fun out in the yard today. He has learned to go down the slide at top speed. He scraped his knees a few times trying to stand up coming off the slide.

Well, the Diamondbacks brought the World Series championship to Arizona. Game 7 was a real nail-biter, as the Diamondbacks overcame a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was a fitting ending after the Yankees had similar wins in games 4 and 5.

Sean and I went hiking this morning. It’s been a while since we have been out. I was checking the pouch of the backpack carrier, and we had a size 3 diaper. Sean currently uses size 6. (He’s not really a size six, we just like the extra absorbency of the larger diaper). Sean enjoyed the tour of the mountain, and towards the end of the hike, I let him out of the carrier. He felt a little uncomfortable walking on the uneven ground, but he had fun playing with all of the rocks on the ground. For once, I let him pick up any rock he wanted too.

My grass is sprouting! If you remember last week’s post, I seeded the lawn with winter rye grass. I’ve been watering 3 times a day, but I was wondering if it was doing any good. At the rate the grass is growing, I might be mowing next week.

It looks like the World Series is going to the 7th game. With a 15-0 lead in the 5th inning and Randy Johnson on the mound, it is about as certain as it gets in baseball. It think the Diamondbacks have erased the painful memories of games 4 and 5.

We walked Sean to the park again tonight. Sean learned how to sit down at the top of the slide and go down on his own. He can almost climb the steps on his own, so it won’t be too long before we can sit back on the park bench and watch Sean play on the slide on his own.

I’m not sure what to think of the Justice Department settlement with Microsoft. The agreement is so bad, in that it doesn’t seem to restrict Microsoft at all, that I’m wondering if it will be approved by the court and the state attorneys. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Sean had dinner sitting in his booster seat tonight. This is the first time we tried this. He ate out of a plate as well. It was a nice evening out, so we went to the park after feeding Sean. Sean can now hold firmly on the chains of the adult swing, so he has fun swinging.

I finished the final version of my javascript report utility. I won’t be making any updates except to fix errors. My productivity in javascript has really ramped up in the last few days. Looking back, I would say that while javascript is easy to learn, it is very hard to master. The main problem is the poor error checking and reporting. Only through experience have I found how quickly to fix errors.
