April 17, 2002 on 9:14 pm | In Main | No CommentsMy broadband access fees are going up $10 a month. I’m not too pleased with this. I’m definitely not going back to dial-up internet access, and I don’t want to switch to a cable modem after the excite\@home fiasco, so I’m just going to have to eat the $10. After thinking about it, I can’t really blame Sprint for increasing the fees. This article describes the real source of the problem. I don’t think this criticism is overstated.

April 17, 2002 on 9:12 pm | In Main | No CommentsTonight, it was cool, breezy and sunny. Perfect weather to take Sean out for a walk and a trip to the playground. We went to the pink (but mostly green) park. Shortly after we arrived, a group of 5 or 6 year olds finished there t-ball practice, and Sean and I were temporarily overrun on the playground. Sean didn’t seem to mind much having the older kids around.

April 16, 2002 on 8:01 pm | In Main | No CommentsIt was a nice cool, breezy evening, so Sean and I walked over to the grocery store to pick up a few items. I was going to try to walk Sean through the store itself, but he did one of his sit-down strikes right at the entrance to the store. So Sean had a grocery cart ride through the store instead. After we were done at the store, he had no problem walking back home.

April 15, 2002 on 8:49 pm | In Main | No CommentsCortney went to the post office today to mail Sean’s two year pictures, not realizing it was tax day. Sean didn’t think much of the line, and ended up throwing a temper tantrum after being cooped up in the post office. I’m sure some of the taxpayers had a similar sentiment.

April 15, 2002 on 8:46 pm | In Main | No CommentsI was just checking my referring links, when I noticed someone found my web page by searching on google for “Sean Pendegrass”. Not surprisingly, this web page is the top listed item for that search.

April 15, 2002 on 8:44 pm | In Main | No CommentsWe finally had some cooler weather. The cooler weather was caused by dust storms. The dust storms are just cloudy, windy weather that would bring rain to more humid climates, but just kick up the dust here in the desert.

April 14, 2002 on 8:26 pm | In Main | No CommentsWe hit our first 100 degree temperature of the year. I spent almost the entire day inside in the air conditioning. Sean and I took a brief trip outside to take a dip in the swimming pool. Even thought it was hot outside, the water still seemed chilly. Just like last night, Sean preferred to sit on the side of the pool and splash.
Muholland Drive
April 14, 2002 on 8:15 pm | In Movie Reviews | No CommentsThe second movie of the weekend was Mulholland Drive. This movie was typical David Lynch fair, meaning you never know what you are actually seeing in the movie. This was a long movie, and we couldn’t finish it in one sitting. Unfortunately, when we watched the last half hour of the movie, none of the first two hours of the movie made sense anymore. Certain characters and scenes in the movie had no bearing on the main plot. The story told was interesting, but I kept hoping the miscellaneous bits and pieces would somehow be connected by the end of the movie. I’m actually going to withold a rating on this movie, preferring to see it in one sitting before making any judgement. I’m not sure I have the patience take another stab at it, so don’t bother looking for a follow-on review any time soon.
Buy it.
K-PAX
April 14, 2002 on 8:10 pm | In Movie Reviews | No CommentsThe first movie of the weekend was K-PAX, starring Kevin Spacey. I thought this movie was fairly well done. Even to the end of the movie, you were still wondering if the lead character was an alien or just crazy. I did think there were too many scientific discprencies, but it wasn’t too bad for a Hollywood script. I rate this movie a B.

April 13, 2002 on 8:08 pm | In Main | No CommentsWith another day with highs in the 90’s, I finally broke down and turned on the air conditioning. At three o’clock in the afternoon, the house temperature was well past 80, and I wasn’t going to wait another five hours to cool the house down. In addition to turning on the air conditioning, I also changed my evening routine. Rather than walk Sean over to the park, I decided to take him into the pool. The pool water is still a little chilly, so Sean mostly splashed around. He did dive into the water at least twice.

April 13, 2002 on 8:04 pm | In Main | No CommentsSean went to the neighbor’s twin’s 2 year birthday party. It was at an interesting play place. The play place had many play houses in different themes, with lots of toys. Sean was initially distracted by the balloons that were being prepared at the front entrance. Once he got over the balloons, he had lots of fun playing. Pizza was served at the party. Sean was not very interested in the pizza, and I was only able to get him to eat a piece of the crust. He did enjoy the birthday cake. Sean was rewarded at the end of the party with a balloon of his own.

April 12, 2002 on 11:17 pm | In Main | No CommentsNow that the time has changed everywhere except Arizona, Sean can now watch the Iron Chef, since it now is on before his bedtime. Sean actually sat next to me on the sofa for more than 45 minutes, enthralled with the action and commentary on the show.

April 12, 2002 on 11:14 pm | In Main | No CommentsIt was a hot day today, with a high of 96 degrees, so we changed our normal Friday afternoon routine. Rather that go to the park right after I came home from work, we had an early dinner instead. After dinner, and after it had cooled off somewhat, we went to the park. I think that was more for Cortney and I, as Sean doesn’t seem to mind the heat that much. Sean had his usual fun at the park, climbing, going down the slides, and swinging on the swing. He also seemed to have fun running circles around a patch of weeds, even though we couldn’t figure out why he was doing that.

April 12, 2002 on 8:09 pm | In Main | No CommentsLet’s start off with yesterday’s events. Yesterday morning, I had to give a training presentation to my entire department. This presentation was the culmination of the result of some hard work by me over the last six weeks. It’s been quite a roller coaster ride. I was making last minute changes to the presentation just two minutes before the starting time. The presentation was held in our company cafeteria in order to make room for everyone in my department, and I had to use a microphone, which was a first for me. Everything went well, and I was quite relieved when it was over with. I felt so good about it, I took Cortney out to dinner to celebrate. We chose a mexican restaurant so Sean could eat the taco chips, one of his favorite foods. I didn’t even mind Sean jumping up and down on the seat next to me.
