The initial forecast today was for record setting temperatures. But, we had some late afternoon clouds, and the high temperature was only 107 degrees. The record we were predicted to break was set last year, which I documented here. It was still warm enough for Sean and I to enjoy the pool again tonight.

Another hot day today, so Sean and I had another outing in the pool. The pool water warmed up a couple more degrees, but is still a little on the chilly side. It will have to warm up another 10 degrees or so before it will be warm enough for Cortney. That didn’t stop Sean and I from having a good time in the pool.

It was hot today, with a high temperature of 106, so Sean and I went into the swimming pool, even though the water was a little chilly. We brought a rubber duck into the pool, and Sean quickly learned a game to play. He would grab the duck in the water, and hold onto it while I carried Sean over to the pool stairs. Sean would then climb out of the pool, run to the side of the pool, and then throw the duck into the middle of the pool. He would wait by the side for me to come by, then slide into the water as I came over to catch him. He would go after the duck, and then we would repeat the sequence. Sean had a great time playing this game.

Cortney went in for her 19 week ultrasound appointment. Here is a set of the pictures: (click to enlarge)

The top picture shows a profile of the baby’s face. The bottom picture shows the baby’s foot and leg. The arrow is pointing to the genital area. You can’t tell too well from this shot, but we could tell that Sean is going to have a baby brother! The ultrasound showed that everything is fine with the new baby — skull, spine, heart; everything looked normal.

A blah day. Too hot to do anything outside, and not hot enough to warm up the pool water for a swim. Sean didn’t seem to mind. He was full of energy today. We didn’t even have to resort to one of Sean’s videos to keep him occupied.

I can’t believe the three day weekend is over already. It’s time to get ready for work tomorrow.

As a family outing, we all went to the new Chandler Mall. This is the mall with the children’s play area with the theme of a giant board game. Sean showed more interest in the nearby escalator than the play area. Afterwards, we all had a nice lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. We struggled to keep Sean awake on the way home, so that he would take a full nap at home.

Sean is developing an interest in the classic cartoons I watched as a youngster. He and I watched some Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck today.

I have been maintaining this journal for over a year now. Here’s what I was writing about a year ago. It looks like we are having much cooler Memorial Day weekend weather than a year ago.

The only movie we rented this weekend was Vanilla Sky. This was an interesting movie. I thought the movie could have been better without Tom Cruise in the lead role. The combination of the ever-increasing creepiness of Tom Cruise himself and the rich brat character he played caused me to have no sympathy for the plight of the lead character, who struggled to discern reality from his own dreams. For this reason, I rate the movie a B.

Buy it.

Today was a nice relaxing day. Sean wasn’t feeling well, so we didn’t want to do too much. We all had a pleasant walk over to the grocery store early in the morning before it became too hot. Sean and I took a long nap this afternoon, and we went to dinner at a restaurant at the mall. Afterwards, we walked around the mall. Sean had fun in the pet store and going up and down the escalators. We stopped by the park for a little bit on the way home, and Sean went to bed after watching the Iron Chef.

Sean went back to the doctor today. He still has clogged sinuses. This time, he was prescribed some heavy duty allergy medicine. I hope the medecine works for him.

We all went to a birthday tonight for another one of Sean’s two year old friends. It was right around the corner from us, so we all walked over. Sean had a great time, particularly with all of the corn chips and potato chips he could eat. We were going to leave around his normal bed time, but Sean was having such a great time that we didn’t leave until after 9:30pm.

We had a visit from one of the state agencies this morning to get Sean set up for his speech therapy. The next step will be assign us a coordinator for the services. That might happen in a week. Once we get in contact with the coordinator, we can make arrangements to get the speech therapy.
