We all went out to eat a mexican restaurant to celebrate cinco de mayo. It was busy, but we didn’t have to wait long to be seated. They didn’t have any booths, and they were out of booster seats. So, we sat Sean down in a normal chair. I chose the chair against a small dividing wall. I spent most of the meal trying to keep Sean seated. He kept standing up, either to climb onto to table, trying to climb up the back of the chair, or trying to climb the dividing wall. He did do a good job with his applesauce, eating without spilling a drop. I’m thinking that we won’t be going out to dinner much after the second baby is born.

I spent all morning doing some heavy yardwork. I trimmed all the mesquite trees, and the ruella around by the pool. After lunch, I enjoyed a brief swim in the pool, which I needed to do in order to scrub the algae growing around the pool stairs.

No movies this weekend. We actually rented Ali to watch Friday night, but we never had the time, and we had the baseball game Saturday night.

Long day today. Sean and I started off the day with a hike. The rest of the day was spent cleaning the house. I received two tickets from work to the Diamondbacks game for tonight. Cortney lined up a baby sitter, one of the moms in her MOMS club. The other mom preferred to watch Sean at our house, so we had to make the house presentable. Cortney and I both enjoyed the game. We actually missed the end of the game. We left after 10 innings so that we wouldn’t be home too much later than we promised. We heard the end of the game in the car on the way home — Diamondbacks 6, Expos 5 after 11 innings.

I won an award at work today. I was anounced as a nominee for the “customer focus” award. The funny thing was, the announcement had at least ten names in it. As I was going down the list, I couldn’t help but think that they were going to give this award to just about anybody. When I saw my name at the very bottom, then I realized they would give the ward to just about anybody.

Sean had another fun night at the park. He spent some time playing with two girls, one slight older, and one around his age, with both about the same size as Sean. The older girl tried to take Sean’s hand and lead him up the stairs to the slide, but Sean didn’t want to do that. All three did have fun playing with a ball someone brought to the playground. Sean would throw the ball, then the two girls would run after the ball, and hand it back to throw again. Sean had fun with this for quite sometime.

Sean went back to the doctor today. His conjunctivitis has cleared up, but he is still congested and has a cough. The doctor had his sinuses x-rayed, which showed up positive for a sinus congestion. Sean is now taking a combination anti-biotic and anti-viral. Other than Sean’s congestion and cough, you would never now he was sick. When I came up from work, he was just full of energy. He was so excited about eating dinner that he climbed right onto the table before I could even catch him. He didn’t let up until we put him to bed for the evening.

It was rather cool this evening, so Sean and I walked over to the park. They still haven’t opened the new playground yet. All of the equipment has been installed, and the sand has been put down, but it looks like they are going to put the recycled-tire paving in front of the play set. Maybe Sean will get to try it out tomorrow night. It was a popular night at the park, with lots of children, along with several dogs, so Sean had a lot going on to keep him occupied.

Sean had his detailed evaluation this morning. The report states that he is eligible for speech therapy, which is what we wanted. I thought some of the tests Sean had to go through were amusing. On one of them, designed to test for “pretend play”, the evaluator tried to get Sean to feed cheerios to a stuffed doll. Sean just looked at the evaluator like she was weird, and stuffed the cheerios into his own mouth. He did do well at some of the problem solving tasks, like using a stick to get a toy out from under the sofa. Now that we’ve gotten this far, I’m hoping Sean can start the speech therapy soon.
