I may have solved the problem of my mail client, Outlook 2000, which keeps crashing shortly after I open it. I believe the problem is due to net folders, which is a way to share information over the internet. Cortney and I share a family folder, as well as the calendar and contact list. Apparently, the shared folders don’t work too well if it is over 2Mb in size. When I check the current size, it was over 14Mb. This folder is where we keep pictures and other large files sent by family members. If I try to send updates for the folder, it crashes Outlook everytime. I’m going to try again, this time with the older and large files archived to another directory.

My July web stats ending up much higher than June. When I checked earlier today, I had over 840 visits this month. I’m starting to average around 28 visits a day. Even with people checking several times a day for updates, that’s still a fair amount of regular readers. If any readers want to send feedback, just click on the little Click here to send an email to the editor of this weblog. symbol on the left side of this web page.

Sean had no problem with his ear plugs this evening, so I took him swimming. I put in his earplugs before putting his swimsuit on, just in case he refused them like he did last night. We had fun in the pool. Sean is getting even better with his flying leap into the pool, where he jumps up into the air at the same time as he jumps forward.

I was all set to take Sean into the pool this evening. I had his bathing suit on, I had the towels out. He hasn’t been in the pool since his last ear infection, and he had some new ear plugs made today to prevent any more swimmer’s ear/ear infections. But Sean just wouldn’t let me put the new ear plugs in. He even ran out of the pool area. I don’t know what the problem was. Cortney said he seemed fine when he had the plugs fitted, but who knows. Maybe Sean wouldn’t have enjoyed the pool anyway. It was cloudy today, and the high today was only 100 degrees. The pool water had dropped down to 84 degrees, which is a bit on the chilly side.

It was a hot day today, with a high of 110 degrees. That’s the warmest it has been in the since early July. It was drier though, with a humidity of only 9%, so it seemed more comfortable overall. I’m going to wait until after Sean goes to bed before enjoying the pool.

Another busy day today, but a bit more relaxing than yesterday. I had time this morning for a unicycle ride, and some yardwork. I cleaned both the main a/c filter, and the pool filter. I tought Sean to jump off the step stool. This afternoon, we went to the play area at one of the local malls. Sean had a great time. In the past, he was bothered by the other kids, but today, even with a big crowd, he still had fun.

The only movie of the weekend was Shallow Hal. Of the “teen” movies we have seen recently, I think this is one of the best. This movie had some flaws, but I thought it was entertaining. I rate this movie a B.

Buy it.

It was nice to relax for dinner after a busy day. We decided to have take out chinese food. We invited our friends John and Maria over for dinner, as they are getting ready to move out of town, and we wanted to make sure we got together before they left. The have a son Enzo, who is little younger Sean, and another newborn. Sean enjoyed having someone to play with. It was nice having the company, and we had a good time.

I mentioned in the last post it was a busy day; some of the things I accomplished were: finalize the moving of the guest bedroom furniture, help Cortney bring her car into the repair shop to get the door fixed, vacuum and mop the floor, put new slip-covers of the furniture, straighten the loft area, and helping Cortney get ready for our dinner guests.

Today was a busy day. Sean woke up very early this morning. I normally go on my unicycle ride on Saturday morning, but since Sean was already up I didn’t want Cortney to have to watch him. So, I decided to take Sean to the park. I was hoping that Sean would have the opportunity to run around and work off some excess energy, but I guess he felt just as wilted as I did, with the heat and high humidity. The other big highlight of the day was Sean put two different words together for the first time. He used the words “cat” and “ball” to describe one of the cat’s toys. Sean was quite proud of this accomplishment, and kept repeating “cat ball” all day long.

Blog hot or not, rate other people’s web logs. I wouldn’t submit this site to that kind of scrutiny. I know the quality is mixed, mostly a function of how much time I spend writing entries, and how much time I waste web surfing.

Is Alaska warming? If you read the daily newspapers, you would think this was a proven fact. Here’s a good counter article.

I’m keeping a close eye on my July traffic numbers. June was my highest month, with 770 page visits. So far in July, I have 709 visits, which isn’t too bad since I expected some declining traffic during our vacation. I hope a busy weekend will put me over the June total. I haven’t had a declining month since last December.

Sean started his speech therapy today. We certainly don’t expect him to start talking after a single session. In fact, I wonder if therapist was frusrated. Sean can be stubborn at times, just like his parents.

Today was an interesting day for Sean. This morning, he had his first regular visit from the early interventionist. Cortney said the interventionist tried to work with Sean to learn “in” and “out”. Early this afternoon, Cortney took Sean to the doctor. He has yet another ear infection. His ear tubes are still in and open, so this is more of a swimmer’s ear type infection. Sean has some stronger drops, and he should be able to go swimming three days from now.

Later this afternoon, we took Sean to a kid’s gym. Sean had great fun playing on the equipment. He was among the best in the group at jumping with both feet. Unfortunately, he didn’t care much for some of the structured activity. He wanted to keep jumping up and down on the mats.

This evening, Sean slept on his new bed. The bunk bed we ordered this weekend was delivered and assembled today. The bed thing still seems iffy to us. For the last few nights, we have have warned Sean that if he doesn’t stay in the bed, he goes back into the crib. I wouldn’t be surpised if he did that again tonight.
