It looks like Sean has another ear infection, or swimmer’s ear, just like the last one, with fluid oozing out of his ear. I’m guessing Sean won’t be able to use the pool any time soon. I went out for an evening swim after Sean went to bed, mainly to clean all of the leaves out of the pool from last night’s storm.

A soggy day today. The rain we had last night left humid conditions today. We had another visit from a state adminstrator. This one was for long term care, to see if Sean needs any additional services. The woman told us that Sean wouldn’t qualify, but we could apply again in the future. Of course, the only thing Cortney and I are interested in is the speech therapy, and preschool once Sean turns three.

Correction. We didn’t just get a dust storm, we ended up getting quite a bit of rain. The wind was driving the rain hard into the windows, making quit a bit of noise.

We had a big dust storm this evening. The one plus was that it did not arrive until after we had a chance to cool off in the pool first. We had some really neat colors in the sky, as the clouds arrived around sunset. It looks like I will be doing more cleanup this weekend.

Tonight, I moved the upstairs bedroom furniture around. Sean will be moving into the center bedroom. I moved the furniture that was in the center room to the third room. So, Sean will be sleeping in a new room, until his bunk bed arrives on Thurdsay.

Sean is 29 months old today. He said another word today — “Elmo” (the Sesame Street character). Cortney had bought Sean a place mat featuring Elmo and all of the colors, so he could learn his colors. After Sean finished dinner, he pointed to the mat and said the word. He also has an Elmo chair, and when I pointed to the chair, he said “Elmo” as well.

Hart’s War

July 21, 2002 on 6:26 pm | In Movie Reviews | No Comments

The second movie of the weekend was Hart’s War. This movie was almost the opposite of the first one, with a very realistic and well done story, but the movie was a little too tedious to enjoy very much. Despite the WWII setting, it isn’t really a War movie, so don’t let that stop you from seeing it. I rate this movie a B.

Buy it.

John Q

The first movie of the weekend was John Q. After the first few minutes of this movie, I didn’t think I would enjoy this movie. But as the movie progressed, I started to enjoy it more and more. By the end, I would definitely say it was an enjoyable movie. Anne Heche did a good job as hospital adminstrator that you could really hate, but James Woods seemed to be too wishy-washy as a snobbish heart surgeon. I would rate this movie higher, but the story was just a little too unbelievable. The main hospital scene was just too unrealistic, and the perfect speeches and actions from an uneducated working family was a bit much. So, I rate this movie a B.

After a lunch and a relaxing nap, we went to the Outback Restaurant. Cortney hadn’t been to one in a while, and wanted to go. Sean enjoyed eating the bread while Cortney and I enjoyed our dinners. After we arrived home, Sean and I went into the pool. Sean had fun playing with the beach ball. He had a little routine where he would stand on the top step. I would throw him the beach ball, and he would give it a good kick, and then dive off the step into my arms. I’m not sure why he liked this routine, but he kept doing it over and over. I’m hoping that with the exercise at the mall and the swimming pool, Sean will get a good night’s sleep.

After the unicycle ride, we dropped off the minivan at the dealer to fix the door seal, which was loose. After an hour at home, they called back to say they had ordered the wrong part. So we went back to the dealer, and we decided to stop by the mall on the way home to let Sean run around. We arrived just after the mall opened, and Sean was able to run for a few minutes without getting in anyone’s way. We also made the obligatory stop at the pet store, so Sean could see the puppies on display.

Today was a busy day. I started the day off with a unicycle ride. It’s the first time I have been on the unicycle in three weeks. I was a little worried that I had lost some skill level, but it seemed like I was able to ride at the same level as before. I normally practice my mounts and turns for a few minutes before going on a long ride. This morning, though, I just decided to go for the long ride.

Sean was very energetic this evening. He was so wound up, I let him jump up and down on the couch, even though I would prefer he not do that. Sean also had fun in the pool. I couldn’t get him to jump off the side of the pool like he did two days ago, but he still had fun going under the water.

Cortney gave me a major surprise today. She cleaned up the bedroom. And did a good job of it, too.

I didn’t have the energy to deal with Sean in the pool this evening, so I went for a nice swim after he went to bed. The pool was well lit by the moon, even though it isn’t full yet. I’ll spend more time with Sean tomorrow evening.
