Another Sunday spent doing yardwork and housework. This evening, we did have a surprise. The connection for the water filter underneath the kitchen sink broke again. The last time that happened, the main part of the house flooded. This time, I caught it while it was just a slow leak. We did get more water damage to the kitchen island, which we don’t need. I removed the fitting, which left the filter disconnected, but at least we have hot and cold water at the sink. I’ll leave the worrying about what to do about the filter for later on this week.

No new words for Sean today. He is close to saying “read” and “choo-choo”, but doesn’t quite have them down yet.

The Accidental Spy

The only movie we watched this weekend was The Accidental Spy. This is a Jackie Chan movie. The movie had some impressive scenery filmed at a number of international locations, but this was not one of the better Jackie Chan movies. In fact, the most interesting scene was Jackie’s naked rear end. Perhaps Jackie Chan is getting too old for his stunts? I rate this movie a C.

Buy it.

Sean went to another birthday party tonight, the last of the 2 year old parties. This party was at one of those play places. They had a little roller coaster ride that went around in circles and had a track that goes up and down. Regardless of the other rides, Sean was definitely fascinated with roller coaster style ride. I took him on it a couple of times with me, and Sean definitely enjoyed it. I didn’t care for it much, since the car was to cramped for an adult and the ride throws you into the side. After we had eaten, I decided to take a chance a let Sean ride it himself. He loved it! Despite the fact that he was the youngest on the ride alone, he couldn’t get enough of it. Cortney wasn’t too pleased when I told her of Sean’s accomplishment, but when she saw how much Sean enjoyed it she understood. Sean also had fun on the carousel, the jet car ride, and the elevated tunnels, but he like the roller coaster the most. We even stayed 45 minutes past his bedtime.

Well, despite yesterday’s short post, my web traffic is doing well. The numbers look like August will exceed July, continuing the streak of increasing monthly traffic since the beginning of the year. I might even pass 1000 monthly visits.

Sean’s word of the day is “zebra”. He struggled with this one. Most of the time, he says “zee-baa”. He did pronounce it correctly a few times today, so I am giving him credit for it.

We braved the frigid 84 degree pool water to go swimming this evening. We hadn’t been in the pool in the last few days, so it seemed like a good idea. Sean certainly didn’t mind the cooler water. The forecast is for 110 degree temperatures this weekend, so the pool should warm up a bit.

Sean’s new word of the day is “monkey”. One of his new words that I forgot to mention is “bus”.

Sean’s play is getting more sophisticated. He took 3 of his medium sized cars (around 4 inches long), and formed a train out of them. It was cute watching him carefully lining up the 3 cars, then pushing on the last one to get the other two to go as far as possible.

I went into work late this morning so I could particpate in Sean’s “goal planning” meeting. We met with both the early interventionist and our service coordinator. Most of our goals were towards Sean’s language skills, but we had a few others as well, such as potty training, sipping through a straw, and riding a tricycle. Sean will also be evaluated for occupational therapy. Sean probably doesn’t need this, but with Cortney due soon, we can use the extra help teaching Sean some additional skills.

Temperatures were back to normal today, with a high of 104 degrees. At least it is warm enough to go swimming again. I didn’t bother to go out to the pool tonight. It’s Mom’s night out, so Sean and I are going to watch videos, read, and have fun indoors tonight.

The high today was a cool 94 degrees. Despite a brief shower, it wasn’t all that humid, so this was quite a change in the weather. It will take a few degrees of 100+ weather to warm the pool back up to comfortable temperatures.
