October 26, 2002 on 7:02 pm | In Main | No CommentsIt was cold and rainy today. I watched Ethan for the entire day, and Cortney and Corky took turns watching Sean. Cortney took Sean to the library, so that Sean could play with the trains they have in the children’s section. She stopped in the magazine section to find something to read while Sean played. Sean spotted the model train magazine, and pulled it off the shelf and started reading it! Later on in the day, Corky took Sean to the park. He had a blast playing in the puddles, but that meant he had to be changed and warmed up once he arrived home.

October 25, 2002 on 10:05 pm | In Main | No CommentsLittle Ethan ended up sleeping the entire evening. Cortney fed him shortly after we left for the hike, and I didn’t feed him until it was time for me to go to bed, almost six hours later. I probably should have waken him sooner. Hopefully, this won’t affect him sleeping through the night.

October 25, 2002 on 10:04 pm | In Main | No CommentsI took Sean hiking this afternoon. Corky also joined us. My plan was to carry Sean to the top of the mountain in the carrier, and let Sean walk down. Unfortunately, Sean slipped a couple of times on the rocks, and so I ended up carrying him down the mountain as well. At least it was a sunny cool afternoon, and the hike was otherwise enjoyable.

October 24, 2002 on 8:10 pm | In Main | No CommentsI was able to get my web site log analysis program working today. I may post the report here for the end of the Month of October, since it is in html format. It looks like I am averaging about 30 visits a day, which isn’t too bad considering that google hasn’t indexed the site, and that not too many people know about the new site location.

October 24, 2002 on 8:05 pm | In Main | No CommentsInteresting news that the D.C. area sniper, actually two people, were arrested today. It’s possible that these two were not responsible for the killings, but the evidence doesn’t look that way. I’m surpised the newspapers aren’t saying it, but it clearly indicates that this is a case of terrorism. It’s possible that this terrorism is not linked to Al Qaeda, but it is still terrorism. Assuming these two are responsible, it does indicate to me that our real enemy isn’t Iraq or Al Qaeda, but Islamic fundamentalism.

October 24, 2002 on 8:01 pm | In Main | No CommentsI took Sean and Ethan to the park tonight, by myself. That didn’t work out so well. Sean started acting out. He was eating the playground sand and running away. He normally doesn’t do these things if I am able to be with him. I think he started doing these things for the attention. I warned him that if he ran away a second time, I would take him home. He did that just a few minutes later, so left the playground. I ended up taking Sean and Ethan for a walk, so that Cortney would get a break.

October 23, 2002 on 9:18 pm | In Main | No CommentsI’m trying to set up a log file analysis program for this new website. My hosting service doesn’t provide the usage analysis, just the raw data logs. In theory, this allows me to do more with the data. The problem is that it takes more effort to get the analysis program setup and working.

October 23, 2002 on 8:19 pm | In Main | No CommentsTonight was a quiet night. I gave Ethan a bath, and we watched game 4 of the World Series. We didn’t have the time to take Sean to the park this evening. We spent at least part of the evening keeping Sean away from Ethan. Sean is excited by his baby brother, but doesn’t realize he is to big and heavy to play with the baby.

October 22, 2002 on 7:28 pm | In Main | No CommentsI’m in the process of setting up my computer to be able to work at home. I set up a separate user account on Windows XP that I plan to use just for work. I had to convert Outlook over to the corporate version so that I can download my mail from the work exchange server. This had the unintended consequence of messing up some of the settings in my personal version. Among other things, all of my rules were invalidated. At least my internet accounts weren’t deleted. I took this opportunity to clean up and organize all of my mail messages.

October 22, 2002 on 7:23 pm | In Main | No CommentsI found an interesting article explaining that incompetent people are less likely to know they are incompetent. I think this has interesting implications for our democratic political process. Of course, this might explain some of the political adds I have seen recently on television. These adds are so blatantly misleading that I immediately make up my mind to vote the opposite of the message. I have wondered just who these adds were aimed at. The above article explains that it is likely the people who don’t even realize they are being misled.

October 22, 2002 on 7:19 pm | In Main | No CommentsSean is 32 months old today. He took a long nap this afternoon, and when he woke up, he was bursting with energy. Cortney and I tag-teamed Sean this evening. After dinner, Corky and I took Sean and Ethan to the park. We came home in time for Sean’s evening milk. After that, Cortney and Corky took Sean to the McDonalds’s play area.
