Our internet connection was finally up, as of this morning. I’m now publishing Saturday and Sunday’s entries, in addition to today’s.

We had a nice warm day today, with a high of 90 degrees. I was surpised to see it get that warm, since we had a breezy morning. Sean and I had fun at the park this evening. Someone had brought their dog with them, and was letting the dog run off the leash. The dog wasn’t too interested in Sean, until Sean took off running. Then, the dog started to chase after Sean. Sean stumbled and fell, but fortunately the dog’s owner intervened before Sean had to suffer a lick in the face. The dog was well trained, and Sean thought it was funny when the dog went down the slide on the playground.

We went hiking as a family today. I had Ethan in the carrier, and Cortney guided Sean. We made it about as far as the last time Sean and I went hiking together. This time, Sean was a bit more stubborn. Sean sat right down on the trail several times on the way down. With some coaxing, he eventually made it all the way down.

The interent connection is down this evening, so I probably won’t be publishing the web page this evening. The problem looks to be Earthlink’s dns servers.

Cortney and I baby sat this evening. Sean’s friends Nicolas and Shannon came over for the evening, so he had someone to play with. Sean was also allowed to stay up past his bed time. It will be interesting to see if he will sleep in tomorrow morning.

I managed to get some weeding done today. There are still some weeds tucked away here and there, but most of the yard is now weed free. The grass has started growing, so tomorrow, I plan to hit the lawn with some weed and feed.

I tried feeding Ethan the oat cereal, just in case he doesn’t like the taste of the rice cereal. Unfortunately, I had the same result with the oat cereal that I did with the rice cereal. Ethan made a face like I had just poisoned him. Then he tries to spit out the cereal to avoid swallowing it. Oh well. I’ll keep trying in case he changes his mind.

Ethan did much better this evening. He was back to his normal self. It looks like the culprit was his eczema. Cortney has been liberally applying hydrocortisone cream to his red spots, and it seems to be helping.

Lately, we have been giving Sean time-outs by putting him in the crib when he misbehaves. We tried spanking, but it didn’t seem to work well. After I caught Sean jumping on the couch, I put him into the crib for his time-out, telling him what he did wrong. After his three minute time-out, I decided to see if Sean was learning anything from the disciplinary action, so I asked him if he knew what he did wrong. I wasn’t expecting an answer, but surprisingly, he said “I stand on the sofa”. At least Sean knows what the rules are, even if chooses to occasionally not obey them.

Ethan has been extra fussy for the last couple of days, so Cortney took him to see the doctor. We suspected a possible ear infection, but his ears turned out to be just fine. The doctor thought a urinary tract infection might be a possibility, so Ethan had to suffer through a cathoder. The initial test was negative. I wonder if Ethan is just cranky from teething.

I talked with Sean on the phone today. He said “hello daddy”. Twice.

This is a good article describing why the media, including the retired military “experts” are having a hard time with Iraq war.
