Sean doesn’t go to school this week, since it’s spring break week. Of course, Sean is a little young for a spring break outing, but I guess the teachers need a break. Sean was couped up again with the rainy weather, but he didn’t misbehave too badly. Cortney hosted a MOMS event, so Sean at least had other kids to play with. Tomorrow could be a tough day though.

We tried something new for dinner. Cortney bought some bratwurst . I cooked it using a beer-braised technique. I thought it came out okay, but Cortney thought it tasted like plain old sausage. I told Cortney that’s all bratwurst really is.

Yucky weather today. Cold and Rainy. I got drenched running to my car leaving work. The temperature was 49 degrees on the way home. Were not supposed to get weather like this in mid-March.

It rained most of the day today. We had a steady drizzle, with a brief downpour in the middle of the afternoon. Sean was out of control this morning. With the rain outside, there wasn’t much for him to do, so he decided to misbehave. He didn’t even want to eat lunch, so we put him down for an early nap. After a long nap and eating a big dinner, Sean was much better behaved this evening. Ethan continued rolling over onto his stomach whenever he had the chance.

Road to Perdition

Time now for some movie reviews. Last night’s movie was Road to Perdition. This movie had a slow beginning, and I almost fell asleep before the movie started to become interesting. Tom Hanks again does a fine performance, portraying a gangster in the 1930’s. I did find the movie’s viewpoint of a twelve year old boy to be disturbing. Still the movie was interesting, and I would recommend this movie with a rating of a B+.

Buy it.

Thirteen Ghosts

The Friday night movie was Thirteen Ghosts. As the name would indicate, this is a horror film. I found the beginning to be too disjointed, and I had trouble following the plot. Once I did figure out the plot, the movie quickly ended. At least the movie had some good special effects. I rate this movie a B-.

But it.

The Tuxedo

We watched the movie The Tuxedo last weekend, and I never got around to writing a review. This is a Jackie Chan movie, with Jackie Chan playing a taxi driver who gains martial arts powers when he dons a special “tuxedo”. This wasn’t one of Jackie Chan’s better movies. His character doesn’t generate enough interest to the viewer as the main protagonist, and the martial arts scenes are just average. I rate this movie a C.

But it.

Ethan has learned a new trick. If he is not happy in the crib, he rolls over onto his stomach, where he cries until we go and get him. He did this several times today.

We went to the railroad park today. The weather was a little cloudy when we arrived, but cleared up while we were there. Sean had fun riding the train and the carousel. On one of his trips, he thought about riding in the cattle car: (click on the picture to enlarge)

but ended up changing his mind and riding on the regular cars. That’s Cortney’s hand reaching down to Sean. Sean and Ethan both had such a good time, that they both fell asleep on the car ride home.

Sean doesn’t go to preschool on Friday’s, so he was able to get in a decent afternoon nap. He was a little groggy during dinner, but afterwards, he was back to full energy. After dinner, we all went to a new playground-park that opened near our library. This park had a really steep slide. I had to coax Sean to go down for the first few times before he was brave enough to go down on his own. We brought a dump truck for Sean to play in the sand, but he preferred to play with the toys the other kids brought, just as another child played with Sean’s dump truck. I guess the toys are more desirable when they’re not yours.

Afternoon classes are not working out well for Sean. The problem is that Sean is missing his nap. Today, Cortney arrived home from picking up Sean at school at the same time I came home from work. Sean was sound asleep in his car seat. He did wake up after that, but you could tell he was tired and cranky. We did have a good time together at the orange slide park. He never did eat his dinner though.

After school, Sean fell asleep on the sofa downstairs. He slept there for at least a couple of hours. I pretty much just relaxed myself this evening.

The weather has been very pleasant this week. With highs in the 80’s, it’s starting to get warm again. I spent some time weeding in the back yard while Sean played. Later, Cortney took Sean to the park while I watched Ethan. It’s also nice to be able to leave the doors and windows open. Today, the orange blossoms were even strong enough to reach the house.

Ethan is 5 months old today. Considering that he has an ear infection and is teething, he is very well behaved.
