The Core

Cortney and I went to the movie theatre last night. Leslie was nice enough to watch Sean and Ethan for us. We went to see The Core. This movie is about a journey to the core of the earth to save the world. As far as science fiction goes, this movie was lousy. It requires a forgetting any knowledge of physics or chemistry for the plot to make any sense. There were some neat special effects, but not enough to save the movie. I rate it a C.

Buy it.

We took Ethan to get his six month pictures today. While the pictures aren’t bad, we went through some trouble to get them. He’s not ready to sit up yet, and it was difficult to get Ethan posed properly. Here’s a copy of the proofs. (click to see full-sized image):

We went out to dinner with friends this evening. We had a late dinner, and that allowed us to put Sean and Ethan down to bed before going out. Leslie was around to keep an eye on things. It was nice having dinner without kids, and we had a good time.

We went to the railroad park today. We took turns riding the train with Sean. Between lunch and the train and carousel rides, Sean barely had time for the playground. Of course, Sean had fun on the train rides. Both Ethan and Sean slept during the car ride home.

Ethan made some progress this evening towards solid food. He actually finished all of the small batch of cereal I made up. He initially scrunched up his face like he didn’t like the cereal, but then he proceeded to swallow it. I’ll try again tomorrow to see if I can’t get Ethan to eat more of the cereal.

Cortney went to school with Sean today, while Leslie stayed home and watched Ethan. In addition to witnessing Sean’s speech lesson, Cortney also watched the school Easter egg hunt.

I woke up this morning to a vomiting cat and a vomiting kid. One of the cat’s coughed up a hairball, which I guess isn’t too surprising considering that the cats are shedding due to the warmer weather. We not sure why Sean threw up this morning. He ate lunch, so I don’t think it was a virus. It was probably either due to eating breakfast too fast, or maybe he really didn’t like that piece of bacon.

Sean missed school today. Actually I think he just slept through the time he was supposed to be there. I think Sean may be coming down with an illness.

At the very least, when I suffer from writer’s block, I don’t resort to this.

Cortney picked up her mom, Leslie, at the airport this morning. We went out to dinner and had a nice meal at our favorite mexican restaurant. Leslie brought a gift for Sean, a Blue’s Clues notebook, and Sean had fun playing with it. And, he actually had a chance to use it when we played one of his Blue’s Clue’s videos.

Not much to write about today. Cortney spent the day cleaning the house, preparing for her Mom’s arrival tomorrow. Sean was sleepy after pre-school again today. It was a nice, breezy evening, so Sean and I spent some time at the park. Sean had a good time, despite his tiredness. I bet he will be excited when his grandmother arrives tomorrow.

On this day last year, we were already turning on the air conditioning. This spring hasn’t been anywhere near as warm.

A mid-afternoon event like a birthday party seems to take up most of the day. I slept in this morning, since I knew I wasn’t going to be taking an afternoon nap. In the morning, Cortney and I finished the laundry. I also spent a few minutes weeding the lawn. After the party, we just relaxed.

We went to our second birthday party of the weekend today. This party was for the one year birthday for the son of one of my coworker’s. The party was at one of those pizza places with an indoor play area. Sean spent the whole two hours running all over the place. The only time he sat still was when he was eating his cake.

I tried feeding Ethan the sweet potato baby food today. He didn’t like it. I guess he is just not ready for solid foods yet.
