Sean was sick today. He didn’t finish breakfast, skipped lunch, and didn’t touch dinner. He definitely has some type of intestinal bug.

Ethan was very vocal this evening. Much babbling and screaming.

We had a powerful storm last night, the first of the summer season. We lost one of the big mesquite trees in the front yard. Here’s a picture of the fallen tree (click to see full size picture):

I had to get out and trim away quite a few branches just to be able to get my car out of the garage this morning. One of the neighbors gave us the number of a landscape company; we had the tree removed this afternoon. The front of the house looks bare without the tree. At least the tree did not hit the house when it fell.

Tonight was library night. I decided I wanted to take a turn with Ethan in the baby story time, so I left Cortney to watch Sean playing with the trains. However, Sean didn’t want to be left out, so he soon joined Ethan and I. I think he remembered some of the songs from when he went to baby story time. Sean also particpated in the older child story time, but he was impatient with some of the stories. He did enjoy the movie though.

Ethan has been really bad recently about spitting out his food. It was so bad that this evening, he had his dinner cut short because of it. Cortney and I both tried feeding him, without much luck.

Sean was out of control this evening. I think he was tired from having his MOMS club friends over for a swim during the day. At any rate, he just wouldn’t behave. After a big fight over dinner, he finally fell asleep on the landing upstairs. I hope he gets more sleep for tomorrow.

We rented a movie this past weekend, Gangs of New York. This movie is about the poor section of New York in the 1800’s. I didn’t care much for this movie. At just under three hours, it was too long, and it was too hard to follow. It’s also a very violent film, which can be hard to stomach in a serious movie. Still, your mileage might vary. I rate this movie a C.

Buy it.

Today was a typical Sunday for us. I started off the day with some yardwork, did the laundry at mid-day, then watched Sean and Ethan in the afternoon when neither of them wanted to take a nap. They both fell asleep late in the afternoon. I wanted to take Sean in the pool this evening, and I grabbed him out of bed while he was still sleeping, and put him in front of a bowl of his favorite pasta. He woke up enough to finish the pasta and then some applesauce. After that we went into the pool. I guess he wasn’t completely awake, since he spent almost the whole time on the pool steps. He normally is more active, jumping into the pool and swimming around.

This morning, we were looking for Sean’s ear plugs. Last time I had seen them, Sean brought them to the sofa in the family room, asking if he could go swimming. I looked everywhere, and couldn’t find them. Since Sean had them last, I thought I would ask him where they were. I wasn’t expecting to Sean to find them, so I was suprised when Sean went straight to the train table, grabbed the container with the ear plugs, and handed them to me. He had hidden them inside the train tunnel.

Ethan has finally cut one of his top two teeth. It seems like he has been teething for the last two months.

Today was a relaxing day, much less hectic than last Saturday when we flew back from Florida. I still managed to get in a few errands and to work on some things around the house.

We went to Burger King tonight, so Sean could play in the ball pit. We where there for quite some time, much longer than we normally stay. Sean had fun playing with a little girl. They both seemed to like tumbing on the mat. Just as we were ready to leave, Sean’s friends Shannon and Nicolas showed up, so we stayed awhile longer. By the time we left, Sean’s clothes were soaked through from all of the activity.

Sean slept through the evening again, missing dinner. Even though I missed an oppportunity to go for a swim, I didn’t mind relaxing in front of the TV, spending some time with Ethan. I was barely able to wake Sean up for his evening milk. He drank it while lying down on the sofa, curled up in his blanket. I brushed his teeth with him laying in the same position, before carrying Sean up to bed.

It was a hot day today, and I was looking forward to taking both boys swimming. But after dinner, they both fell asleep. Sean never did wake up, and we just ended up carrying him to bed. Ethan woke up in plenty of time for his evening bottle.

We went to the library tonight. Cortney and Ethan went to baby story time while I watched Sean play with the trains. Cortney said Ethan wasn’t too interested in the songs. Afterwards, we all went to the regular story time, for three to six year olds. The theme was birthdays, since the library was four years old. Sean likes birthdays. In addition to the birthday stories, they had a cartoon movie of Arthur’s birthday. Interestingly enough, Sean saw this movie last week. Leslie had rented the movie from her library. Sean didn’t seem to mind watching it again.
