July 21, 2003 on 8:02 pm | In Main | No CommentsFinally, back to the workday routine. Work wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I arrived home from work to a nice dinner prepared by Cortney. That was a big plus for the day. Sean and I had another nice swim in the pool this evening.

July 21, 2003 on 7:58 pm | In Main | No CommentsCortney picked up Floppy from the boarding place today. We arrived too late on Saturday to pick her up, and they were closed on Sunday, so we had to wait until today. It was worth it. Floppy appears to be nice and healthy, although she is definitely happy to be home.

July 20, 2003 on 8:06 pm | In Main | No CommentsAnother long day today. We had a wrong-number caller around 3:30 AM last night. Neither Cortney, Sean, nor I were able to get back to sleep after that. We still had a full day of activity. I did my yardwork and laundry in the morning. We left right before lunch to go to a shopping mall with a play area so Sean could get some exercise. Sean had fun, and even Ethan crawled around the play area. Both kids took a nap after we arrived home. After dinner, Sean and I had another nice swim in the pool. I’m a little too tired, so I plan to write up my vacation summary tomorrow night.

July 19, 2003 on 7:53 pm | In Main | No CommentsWe arrived home safely today after spending eight days in Florida. I had to intended to post while I was on vacation, but I forgot the password for the server program. Actually, it was good to take a break from the computer for a week. I plan to write up a description of the vacation tomorrow. Today was a long day. We woke up at 6:00 AM this morning, which is 3:00 AM in Arizona time. Sean was restless on the plane ride home, but otherwise we didn’t have any problems flying. We hit some road construction on the way home from the airport, forcing us to drive out of our way. We arrived home at 1:30 in the afternoon. After we were home, our game plan was to keep both kids as active as possible, keeping them up as late as possible, in order to get them use to the time change. We went to Burger King for dinner, so Sean could play in the ball pit. After dinner, we went for a nice long swim in the pool. We’ll have to see if the kids sleep in tomorrow morning.

July 11, 2003 on 12:53 pm | In Main | No CommentsToday we pack for our trip to Florida. Actually, we have been laying out stuff for the last several days and started packing last night. But we actually leave today. I plan to post my entries, but not upload them to the website, so nobody knows that we are on vacation. Ethan is nine months old today.

July 10, 2003 on 8:50 pm | In Main | No CommentsWe were supposed to get 115 degree temperatures today, but the high fizzled out at 110 degrees. It still seemed hot. I wanted to take Sean into the pool this evening, but he was out of sorts. Shortly after I came home from work, he crawled into bed on his own, and slept for a couple of hours. He was still tired and cranky when he woke up. I hope he still gets a good night’s sleep tonight.

July 9, 2003 on 8:25 pm | In Main | No CommentsEthan went to the doctor’s office for his nine month well visit today. Ethan has a clean bill of health. His head size is still high, and his weight is still low percentage wise, but he has increased in height. Other than his large head, he still looks fairly proportioned. The doctor encouraged us to try feeding meats to Ethan. Tonight he tried a chicken and apple mix, and he seemed to enjoy it.

July 8, 2003 on 8:03 pm | In Main | No CommentsWe went to the library this evening. Cortney participated in the baby story time with Ethan while I watched Sean playing on the train table. After the baby story time, we all went to the family story time. Sean had fun with the songs and the movie, but was a little impatient with one of the stories. We had fun, so I think we’ll do this again.

July 7, 2003 on 8:09 pm | In Main | No CommentsSean and I had a nice swim in the pool this evening. Sean can now jump in off the side of the pool, turn around, swim back to the side, and reach up and grab a hold of the side with his arm. He can then work his way around to the stairs. If Sean doesn’t panic, he could save himself if he ever accidently fell into the pool. Of course, we have a fenced in pool, and we keep the gate locked when we are not using it, so that’s not likely to happen.

July 6, 2003 on 8:11 pm | In Main | No CommentsToday was a fairly relaxing day, with the exception of a long afternoon. Sean refused his nap, and so he spent most of playing on his train table. He likes my commentary, so he wants me to sit with him when he plays with his trains. We had a nice swim in the pool this evening. The hot weather has warmed up the pool water, but it is still dry enough that you feel refreshed leaving the pool water. Ethan had a good time just sitting in his float.
Tears of the Sun
July 6, 2003 on 8:08 pm | In Movie Reviews | No CommentsThe movie last night, and the first we have watched in a while, was Tears of the Sun. This was a fairly simple movie about a Navy Seal operation in Nigeria, with Bruce Willis as the commander defying orders. The movie had a good mix of story and action. Nothing special as far as the acting, but it was still an entertaining movie. I rate it a B.
Buy it.

July 5, 2003 on 9:33 pm | In Main | No CommentsWe had plans to go out to eat for dinner, and follow that up with a swim in the pool. We were at least able to do the dinner part. On the way home from dinner, Sean fell asleep in the car. Since he didn’t have a nap today, we carried him up to his bed for him to sleep some more. It turns out that he never woke up, so we will just let him sleep through the night. Cortney also fell asleep briefly. I ended up feeding Ethan dinner, so we never did use the pool. At least everyone should be fully recovered from last night by tomorrow.

July 5, 2003 on 9:29 pm | In Main | No CommentsSean has a tape which is a narration of Dr Seuss’s Green Eggs and Ham. Sean likes playing this tape over and over again. He has finally learned how to flip over the cassette so that he can keep playing the tape without asking for help. The only problem we have is that Sean likes to play the tape at full volume. He will usually turn it down if you ask him. Sean also likes to enact some of the themes of the tape. He likes to play the tape while playing with his trains, since there is a train in the story. He also likes to balance one of his cars on a plastic tree, since that is a picture in the book. Sean also likes to repeat the phrases of the tape. I’m surprised he doesn’t yet have the story fully memorized.

July 5, 2003 on 2:21 pm | In Main | No CommentsAs you can tell, I never had a chance to post yesterday. We left the house late in the afternoon to attend a 4th of July pool party, and did not arrive back home until after midnight. Packing up for the party was almost a major ordeal. We brought our playpen for Ethan to sleep in, and we had to bring everything for both kids to play in the pool and to get to bed afterwards. It was all worth it. Sean had fun playing in the pool with the other kids, and he was able to stay up way past his normal bedtime. Ethan was a little uncomfortable in strange surroundings, but he was able to show of his army-style crawl as well as spend some time in the pool. Cortney and I enjoyed the adult company, particularly after both kids had fallen asleep. We didn’t get much sleep last night, but we did not mind.

July 3, 2003 on 8:17 pm | In Main | No CommentsSean can be a real handful. We took him to the ball pit to play this evening, but we didn’t stay long because Sean was misbehaving. Afterwards, Cortney went out with Ethan, and Sean turned into a perfect angel. When they got home, Sean starting acting out again. It seems Sean is competing with Ethan for attention.
