Today was yardwork day. Since it’s loose trash pickup this week, I worked harder than usual. I didn’t have any heavy work to do, but I ended up doing some light trimming all over the yard. Sean was out helping me for some of it.

Ethan’s sixth tooth has broken through the gums. He will soon have four teeth on the top of his mouth.

Since today is the start of a three day weekend, we took it easy. Cortney went shopping at Goodwill this morning, so I watched Sean and Ethan. Cortney and I took turns napping this afternoon. This evening, we went to Burger King, because we missed last night’s outing due to closing on the refinance loan. Sean played hard in the ball pit, and when we left, he was definitely tired. He actually dozed off just before we reached the house on the way home.

I let Ethan crawl all the way up the stairs today. We have fifteen foot ceilings downstairs, so that was a pretty good climb for Ethan.

We finally closed on our refinancing loan today. This was after three months of loan processing and a second closing attempt. In the end, we got a great deal. A 4.625 interest rate on a fifteen year loan. The loan service was through work, and all lender originated closing costs were paid for. So, we just payed the title insurance, and fees to the title company to close, for a little over $800 out of pocket. We now have a mortgage payment about the same amount as before, but we have a fifteen year loan, not a thirty year loan.

Ethan was in a better mood today than he has been the last few days. He must be getting used to his fifth tooth coming in. Ethan had fun cruising the furniture in the family room.

Sean and I had fun in the pool this evening. Despite some cooler temperatures, the pool has stayed warm at around 86 degrees. After the swim, Sean stayed with me, sitting in the chairs out by the pool. Sean was telling me about the songs they had sung in preschool today. I asked him what his favorite song was, and he replied the ABC song. So, we sang the ABC song together.

The high temperature today was only 92 degrees. It was humid though, and still a little uncomfortable. Cortney had a rough day with Sean and Ethan, so we went to McDonalds tonight so that Sean could work out his energy in the play area. It must have worked, as we was fairly well behaved after we arrived home.

Sean and I had a nice swim in the pool this evening. Sean is swimming well enough that he likes me to go to the other end of the pool before he jumps in. I then swim to him under the water. He seems comfortable enough to wait for me to get to him. If he runs out of breath, he can lift his head out of the water to get another breath. Sean was having so much fun he didn’t want to leave the pool.

Ethan is starting to get bored with his activity saucer. We only use it after he has eaten, because if we let him get too active after eating, he tends to spit up. He really likes it when you take him out, as he gets to cruise the furniture. This evening, Sean had fallen asleep on the couch. Ethan crawled over, and then stood up in front of the couch. Ethan grabbed Sean’s arm, and at one point, raked his hand across Sean’s face. Sean slept right through this, and Ethan moved on. Ethan’s fifth tooth has broken through the gum.

For the first time ever, I was hit by a computer virus. Actually, it was a worm, the Welchia worm. Was I careless? Did I open an email attachement? No. All I did was to log onto my company’s network, using a VPN connection. I’m hopping mad about it too. In addition to losing the internet for the weekend, it took me over an hour and a half to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

Sean and Ethan are starting to interact more. Ethan likes to crawl over to where Sean is and check out what he is doing. Ethan typically reaches for one of Sean’s toys, and Sean seems to think it is funny to take the toys away from Ethan. Occasionally, Sean is distracted enough with whatever toy he has to allow the two to play together peacefully.

While Cortney was giving Ethan a bath this morning, Sean decided he wanted to shampoo his hair. He also ended up getting shampoo all over the carpet and on the sheets of the bed. Cortney had no choice but to give Sean a bath too, to get the shampoo out of his dry hair.

We went to a birthday party for one of Sean’s friends today. The party was at a children’s play place. Sean spent most of the time in the room with the train table. They had a room for crawling children, and Ethan had fun in that room. Sean actually tried a piece of pizza. He ate it backwards and upside down, so that he could eat just the crust. Of course, Sean enjoyed the birthday cake.

Sean is three and half years old today. We celebrated with a trip to the Burger King so he could play in the ball pit. Actually, we do that most every Friday. Sean won’t be swimming this weeked, as he has a minor ear infection. This time, he just has ear drops, so we don’t have to mess with the oral anti-biotic.
