September 22, 2003 on 9:12 pm | In Main |Today was Cortney’s birthday. It also turned out to be a hectic day. We started off with simple plans. I was going to pick up the birthday cake from the grocery store on the way home from work. After that, we were going out to eat. After dinner, I was going to take the kids in the pool, allowing Cortney to go out on her own.
Well, after picking up the cake, my car wouldn’t start. This is the second time I have had trouble at the grocery store on a birthday. The first time was last year when the latch broke on the passenger side door. I ended up walking home carrying the cake, in 105 degree heat. We did end up going out to eat. Since it was a Monday, the restaurant wasn’t crowded, which was nice. On the way home from dinner, we jump started my car, and I drove off to get the battery replaced. By the time I made it home, we barely had time to eat the cake before it was time for the kids to go to bed.
Sean enjoyed singing Happy Birthday. We’ve been practicing for the last few days. Here’s a picture of Sean helping Cortney blow out the candles: (click to see full-sized image)
