This page is a good web tribute to 9/11. Oh, and this site somewhat describes how I feel about the newspaper and network offerings.

Poor Ethan is now sick. He was hoarse, and has both head and chest congestion.

I took Sean to the lab today to get a blood test. Cortney took Sean to the doctor yesterday, because of a deep cough and red spots found by the school nurse. The red spots turned out to be petechiae, which is why Sean went for the blood test. We’re not worried; Sean has had this before. Sean had a tough time in the lab. The tech ended up digging in both arms with the needle to find a vein. Sean held up well, and was fully recovered soon after we arrived home.

I took Sean to soccer practice this evening while Cortney took Ethan to the library for baby time. Sean didn’t do as well at this soccer practice. They started off with a four on four scrimmage game, and Sean didn’t want to kick the ball with to many other kids going after it. After awhile, he sat down and didn’t want to play any more. I had to bribe him with a trip to the playground to get him to do the kicking drills.

Sean had to visit the nurses office today at school. He had a bit of a rash on his back, and a deep cough. Whatever rash he had has gone away, but Cortney says he still has the cough. He certainly didn’t appear to be sick today. When I came home from work he wanted to go outside and kick his new soccer ball, and later on, he was running around the house. I’d like Sean to go to school tomorrow, but Cortney isn’t so sure.

Other than some yardwork this morning, I took it easy today. It wasn’t too hard, with the start of the first full day of football. This evening, we went to the McDonald’s play area. Sean had his usual fun, but was most interesting was that Ethan climbed most of the way up the slide. I was right behind him in case something happened, so he was in no danger.

Today was a busy day. We started off by taking Sean to soccer practice. Sean couldn’t sit still for the meeting between the coach and the parents, but didn’t mind the soccer drills at all. He is good at kicking and following the ball, but he needs to learn how to change the ball’s direction. Ethan had fun crawling and walking (while holding my hands) in the grass while Sean was practicing. It was hot out, so Sean and I cooled off in the pool after practice. This evening, we had dinner guests, so we spent the afternoon cleaning the house. Cortney had invited over one of the families from the MOMS club, and the family had three daughters, so Sean had lot’s of fun. Cortney cooked a good meal. We went for a swim after dinner, and finished up the evening with dessert. Sean should sleep well tonight.

We went to Burger King tonight, although it was tough getting there because Sean was sleepy and did not want to go there at first. But once his friends Shannon and Nicolas showed up, he had lots of fun. He was playing hard enough that he worked up a good sweat. Ethan also had fun playing at the entrance to the ball pit. Afterwards, we stopped by to pick up cleats and shin guards for Sean. Sean starts soccer practice tomorrow morning.

Sean is fighting a bit of a cold, and slept most of the afternoon. Just like the other night, he woke up in time for a snack and his evening milk. Sean did have fun at school today. There was a birthday celebration for one of the students, and Sean loves birthdays. Thursdays are also show and tell days, and Sean brought in Muck, the dump truck from Bob the Builder.

Ethan is now crawling on all fours. He just gradually changed over from his one-armed army style crawl. He still uses his army crawl, but most of the time he is on all fours.

Cortney and I reversed our usual parenting roles this evening. Cortney took Sean out, and I took Ethan into the pool. Ethan had fun in the float, but was a little scared when I put on the googles and swam up to him under the water. He had a blast playing on the second step of the pool, where he could hold onto the side of the pool with one hand and splash with the other.

It was a hot day today, with a high of 110 degrees. Sean took an early evening nap, so we didn’t go swiming. Sean did wake up in time for a snack and his evening milk. Ethan should be close to walking soon. He can now stand up for a few seconds before reaching out to grab hold of something or sitting down.

We went to the mall for our Labor day outing. We went to the mall with a play area based on a giant boardgame. This is the first time Ethan was able to take advantage of the play area. Even though he is not walking yet, he had fun crawling over all of the objects. And for the first time, Sean climbed up onto to the milk carton. The milk carton is just a big box about three feet high. We took a break from the play to eat lunch and do a little shopping, then we went back to the play area. Both Sean and Ethan fell asleep on the car ride home. We were even able to put them down for a nap after we came home.
