Today was a busy day. This morning, we went to the desert botanical gardens, which is next to the Phoenix Zoo. They had a hay ride and a pumpkin patch this weekend. We started off by touring the plants, but Sean didn’t care much for that. We had trouble getting Sean to finish the walking trail. Sean did have fun on the hay ride, which was an actual hay wagon pulled by a tractor. It was a short trip through the desert to the pumpkin patch. The pumpkin patch looked a little parched, and many of the plants did not make it through this week of record breaking temperatures. But at least they brought in enough pumpkins, so Sean and Ethan both came back with a pumpkin.

On the way home from the botanical gardens, we stopped by the mall. We bought Ethan’s first pair of shoes. This was also the first time Ethan has had socks and shoes on his feet. He looked uncomfortable wearing the shoes, like he didn’t know what was on his feet. But they looked like they fit him with some room to grow, so we bought them anyway. I also picked up a box of chocolates for Cortney for an anniversary present. We have been married for seven years now.

This evening, both kids were over-tired, so we had a little bit of a tough time. Ethan was also a little constipated. For the last few days, he has had mostly solid food, with very little of the baby food. I think his system is not used to so much solid food. So, we served him a full eight ounce mixture of prune juice, apple juice and a little water. I thought he wouldn’t like it, but he sucked it right down. We put both kids down to bed early, and they are already both asleep.
