Sean’s Still Sick
March 17, 2004 on 7:28 pm | In Main | No CommentsI thought Sean was starting to get better, but he slept all day today, so it’s obvious he is still sick. He woke up an hour before bed time, and even though he missed dinner, he wasn’t hungry. I hope he is better tommorrow; his grandmother arrives tonight.
Ethan Says "Bye Bye"
March 16, 2004 on 7:34 pm | In Main | No CommentsSince Sean was asleep, I took just Ethan to the library this evening. This actually worked out well, since the baby time ends in time to get Ethan home for his normal bed time. Ethan just doesn’t show the enthusiasm for the train table that Sean does. Instead, Ethan likes to do a little of everything: play with the puzzles, wander around, play with the lego table, briefly check out the train table, then get me to chase after him. Ethan certainly enjoyed baby time. The last song is the Bye Bye song, and as the song ended, I was able to get Ethan to say “bye-bye”. The librarian who runs story time commented that was the first time she had heard Ethan say anything.
Sean Goes to the Movies
March 16, 2004 on 7:32 pm | In Main | No CommentsSean saw his first full length feature film at a movie theatre today. Cortney took Sean to see Clifford’s Really Big Movie. I think the movie tired Sean out, as he fell asleep right after dinner, and missed his trip to the library.
But it.
Sean is Doing Much Better
March 15, 2004 on 7:17 pm | In Main | No CommentsSean seems to be doing much better today. This is spring break week, and so we did not have to make the decision whether to send Sean to school or not. Sean even went to his tumbling class this evening.
Ethan’s Word of the Day
March 15, 2004 on 7:16 pm | In Main | No CommentsEthan’s word of the day is “night-night”. He first said this last night when I took him to bed, and he said it again tonight.
Sunday Summary
March 14, 2004 on 7:48 pm | In Main | No CommentsI spent the morning giving my car a full detail job. I also went out and ordered a tree to replace the one in the front yard that blew over last summer. I spent the afternoon working on taxes, and I finished my federal return.
Sean is still sick. He doesn’t seem to ill, but he slept the entire afternoon, which is not like him at all. We tried to do some potty training this weekend. We had success yesterday, with Sean peeing in the toilet. Since he is sick, we didn’t push him too hard today.
Ethan is doing just fine, until his cranky period mid afternoon. Ethan did not like his dinner choices, and continued to be fussy until he went to bed this evening. I suspect he might just be trying to exert some control, and is trying to tell us he only wants to eat certain foods. Then again, what do I know.
Sean Sick Again
March 13, 2004 on 7:21 pm | In Main | No CommentsJust after I get better, we find out Sean is sick. He woke up with a croup cough this morning. That doesn’t worry me much, because croup generally doesn’t bother Sean, and he gets over it quickly. But when Sean was tired all day long, I knew he wasn’t feeling well. I just hope he doesn’t get Ethan sick.
Speaking of Ethan, we thought we had a real problem this afternoon. Around 4:00 pm, he was crying, and we couldn’t console him. He didn’t want to be held, and he didn’t want to do anything. It turns out that he was just hungry. I went ahead and fed him dinner, and he was fine after that.
Nice Weather Today
March 13, 2004 on 7:16 pm | In Main | No CommentsFinally, after some cold, then hot weather, we had a pleasant day. But not until after a surprise thunderstorm dropped a torrent of rain last night. It was nice to be able to open up the windows and doors all day long. I took advantage of the wet ground to get some weeding done. Sean and Ethan were out in the backyard playing at the same time. I wanted to go hiking but Sean wasn’t interested. Sean did walk over to the grocery store with his grandfather.
Our Usual Trip to Burger King
March 12, 2004 on 7:18 pm | In Main | No CommentsBoth Sean and Ethan had fun playing at the ball pit at Burger King this evening. Sean got a big kick out of me doing a big splash into the ball pit. I needed to go after Ethan, and the circular entrance is hard for me to go through, so I figured I would just dive through it. Ethan had fun going up and down the stairs, back and forth between the two levels. Sean must have had a busy day, because he was visibily tired, even before the normal time to go home. So, we left early, and just relaxed until it was the kid’s bedtime.
My New Niece
March 11, 2004 on 8:38 pm | In Main | No CommentsCongratulations to my brother Scott and his wife Abby on the birth of their new daughter, Faith Marie. She was born today at 8:29 AM. Here’s Scott holding the new baby:
Ethan is 17 Months Old
March 11, 2004 on 8:28 pm | In Main | No CommentsEthan is 17 months old today. He is certainly no longer the innocent little baby. Turn your head for a moment, and he will dash out of the room, open the laundry room door, go into the laundry room, and either splash the cat water, throw the cat food on the floor, or get into the laundry cabinets.
We are about ready to put him in the booster seat, and say good bye to the high chair. He climbs up onto the regular chairs and sits down on his own anyway. The good news is that now that Ethan is becoming more mature (and bigger), he is getting along with Sean much better.
Better Today
March 10, 2004 on 7:12 pm | In Main | No CommentsI’m feeling much better today. I worked a full day, and after a very brief nap, spent some time with Sean and Ethan. I won’t be eating regular food for a while, but at least I should be back to my normal schedule tomorrow. And, Cortney’s father, Corky, arrives tonight. He will be here for the next week.
Still Sick
March 9, 2004 on 7:08 pm | In Main | No CommentsI made the mistake of trying to go into work this morning. I ended up coming home after half a day, and was too tired to take Sean and Ethan to the library this evening.
Home Sick
March 8, 2004 on 7:38 pm | In Main | No CommentsI case you were wondering where yesterday’s post was, the answer is that it wasn’t written. I spent the day in bed with a fever. At the time, I had no idea what the illness was, but today I learned that I have an intestinal bug. I wonder If I caught what Ethan had a couple of weeks ago.
Dinner at Friends
March 6, 2004 on 9:45 pm | In Main | No CommentsThis evening, we had dinner with some friends of ours. Their son, K.C. used to be in Sean’s playgroup, before they moved out to Scottsdale. Actually, they live north and east of Scottsdale, out in the middle of nowhere. At least they have a good sized yard (over 1 acre), and they have a good view of Four Peaks, the highest mountain in the Phoenix area. Four Peaks is high enough that it still has snow on the mountain.
Anyway, Sean had lots of fun playing with K.C. We had a nice meal, and good company. By the time we made it home, it was two hours past the kid’s bedtime. I’m hoping that they sleep in tomorrow.
