Ethan Has Conjunctivitis
May 6, 2004 on 8:23 pm | In Main | No CommentsEthan has conjunctivitis, or pink eye. Cortney called the doctor’s office to schedule an appointment, and they told us they would call in the prescription, and we wouldn’t have to go in. I just hope we get it cleared up before Sean catches it.
Some Terrific Kids
May 5, 2004 on 8:23 pm | In Main | No CommentsI don’t always write glowing reports about Sean and Ethan, so I just want to say what terrific kids they are. Cortney and I are lucky to have two such wonderful kids. Nothing particular happened today to cause me to write this, but I felt it was import to express my thoughts. Sometimes in the day-to-day duty of parenting, I don’t always feel this way. So, it’s important to look at the big picture.
Sean and the Lego Books
May 4, 2004 on 7:28 pm | In Main | No CommentsThe high temperature was 101 degrees today, so it was too hot to do anything outside. Sean wanted to play with the Legos, so we went into the master bedroom, and locked the door so Ethan wouldn’t be tempted to walk in and swallow any of the small pieces.
We played with the Lego monkey for a while, then it was obvious Sean was getting tired with it. I then pulled out the Lego books I had checked out from the library. These books show the history of Legos, and have many fascinating pictures of Lego sculptures. Sean was fascinated by the pictures in the books. He looked really cute while turning the pages and checking out each picture. The books kept him occupied most of the evening, which was good for Cortney and me.
Misbehaving Kids
May 3, 2004 on 7:44 pm | In Main | No CommentsOne of the problems we have with Sean and Ethan playing with each other, is that they copy each other’s bad behavior. Tonight, for a short period of time, it seemed like both kids were out of control. It started when Sean began goofing off at dinner. He just would not sit down and eat his food. After dinner, Ethan started throwing all of his toys around. At one time, I even had both kids in time-out together. It didn’t seem like it would stop, but finally, it was time for Sean to leave for his gym class. Both kids behaved well after that.
Ethan is Teething Again
May 2, 2004 on 7:57 pm | In Main | No CommentsEthan was particularly fussy today. He woke up early from his nap, and had a rough time all afternoon and evening. Our guess is that he is teething. One of his eye teeth broke through the gums over a week ago, but I think his eye teeth may have ascended temporarily before descending again. He has all four teeth just about ready to go. We gave Ethan some Advil and Orajel before bedtime, so I hope he will make it through the night.
Heavy Yardwork Day
May 2, 2004 on 7:53 pm | In Main | No CommentsTomorrow is loose trash pickup day, so I did some heavy trimming in the yard. The mesquite tree in the back yard, and the palo verde tree in particlular needed to be cut back. I mowed the lawn first thing, so I could set up the bouncer, and let Sean and Ethan play while I did the yardwork. That was the plan, anyway. At least Cortney had a little bit of a break while I did the yardwork.
Everyone Takes a Nap
May 1, 2004 on 9:55 pm | In Main | No CommentsFor the first time I can remember, everyone took a nap this afternoon. Of course, Ethan takes a nap regularly, and he was the first to fall asleep. Next was Cortney, who was tired from a long week. What was surprising was that Sean wanted to take a nap. I guess he was tired from the bouncer exercise this morning. After Sean went to sleep, I had nothing to do, so I took a nap myself. And Sean took a real nap, sleeping for almost two hours. We were even late going out to dinner because it took us awhile to get ready after the nap.
Sean Gets a Bouncer
May 1, 2004 on 9:45 pm | In Main | No CommentsLast night at Wal-mart, we bought a bouncer. This morning, we set it up and tried it out for the first time. It’s simple to set up, just unfold it, attach the electric blower, plug it in, turn it on, and a minute later you have a working bouncer. Ethan had fun with it, but he became tired after about twenty minutes. Sean, however, was thrilled with it, and played in it off and on until luch time.
