A Nice Evening Swim

June 30, 2004 on 8:37 pm | In Main | No Comments

After dinner, we had Cortney, Sean, Ethan and myself in the pool. It wasn’t too hot, and the pool water was cool, but refreshing, so it was nice. Corky and Leslie came out to watch the swim activities. It didn’t take too long for Ethan’s lips to start quivering, so Cortney took him inside to warm up, leaving Sean and I to play in the pool together. I like spending the evening this way.

A Hummingbird

June 29, 2004 on 8:15 pm | In Main | No Comments

After Sean, Ethan and I arrived home from the library, there was a hummingbird hovering in the front yard, above the hedge in front of the sidewalk. After we pulled into the garage and poured out of the minivan, I told Sean and Ethan to be quiet, and to walk over so they could see the bird. Sean and Ethan were able to get within about three feet or so from the hummingbird, so they were able to get a good look. I thought for sure that the bird would fly off as the kids got near, but he stayed put. After awhile, I told Sean and Ethan that it was time to go inside and leave the bird alone. Both Sean and Ethan said “bye-bye, bird”.

Monday Night Gym Class

June 28, 2004 on 8:19 pm | In Main | No Comments

I took Sean to gym class this evening. Normally, Cortney takes Sean to class on Mondays, but I missed last Thursday’s class, so I am making up for that. Sean did well in his class. He was the only one who could do a seat drop on the trampoline. I wonder when Sean will be ready for the next level.

A Cloudy Day

June 27, 2004 on 8:17 pm | In Main | No Comments

We had some unusual weather today. It was actually cloudy for most of the day. This made the Sunday morning yarwork a bit more tolerable. Sean and Ethan had lots of fun playing with their grandparents today.

Two Tired Children

June 26, 2004 on 8:55 pm | In Main | No Comments

Today, we managed to tire out both Sean and Ethan. Sean and Ethan played with their grandparents most of the morning. Ethan had his usual afternoon nap, but Sean stayed up the entire day. In the middle of the afternoon, Cortney and I took Sean into the pool. Ethan joined us when he woke up from his nap.

After the pool, Cortney and I took Sean and Ethan out for dinner. We went out to eat at the mall, so we took Sean and Ethan to the play area afterwards. After an hour at the play area, both kids were exhausted. Even though we arrived home an hour before bedtime, neither Sean nor Ethan did much after that.

End of Week 3 of Class

June 25, 2004 on 10:24 pm | In Main | No Comments

My weekly classes finish early on Fridays. Today, I had time to take a brief nap before taking Sean in the pool. After Ethan woke up, I took Sean and Ethan to Burger King. For a change, Sean was very well behaved at Burger King. It’s not that he is a misbehaving child, it’s just that he occasionally gets too excited playing, and gets too rough with Ethan and the other children. But, that did not happen tonight, and he listened to me whenever I thought he was doing something wrong.

Ethan had fun jumping into the ball pit. This is the first time that he has made a deliberate leap into the pit. He normally just slides down the entrance. I had a laugh each time he jumped in. It was obvious that Ethan was enjoying it.

Late Night at Class

June 24, 2004 on 7:15 pm | In Main | No Comments

Class ran late tonight. Since this was the last full day of the core curriculum, we received our class certificates and shirts today. I still have one more week of class to complete, which is the specialized track.

I arrived home just in time to put Ethan to bed. Sean came home a bit later, since he had gym class. At least I had time to at least say hello to the kids this evening.

A Fun Class Day, and An Evening Swim

June 23, 2004 on 8:10 pm | In Main | No Comments

Today was a good day in my class. We took a field trip to review an actual factory setting, with the goal of evaluating what we saw based on what we have learned. Tomorrow, we will be presenting a summary.

After arriving home, I took both Sean and Ethan into the pool. We all had fun, and it was a relaxing way for me to wind down the day.

Library Night

June 22, 2004 on 8:41 pm | In Main | No Comments

I arrived home from class in enough time to take Sean and Ethan to the library this evening. We went to both baby time and story time, even though Ethan has almost outgrown baby time. Actually, Sean enjoys baby time too, since they do many finger plays the babies aren’t actually capable of doing. The other interesting thing was that Ethan was bored with the stories during baby time, and Sean was bored with the stories in story time. You would think it would be the other way around. At least they both had fun. And, I enjoyed going with them.

A Relaxing Evening in the Pool

June 21, 2004 on 7:40 pm | In Main | No Comments

After a long day at class today, I was more than happy to take a dip in the swimming pool. Sean was at gym class with Cortney, so I took just Ethan in with me. Ethan continues to be scared of the pool when he first gets in, but then gets use to it and has a good time. Ethan spent most of the time on the pool steps, where he played with a rubber duck, a toy octopus, and a toy boat. I hope the exercise lets Ethan get a good night’s sleep; he has been cranky the last few days.

Happy Father’s Day

June 20, 2004 on 8:03 pm | In Main | No Comments

I received a card from both Sean and Ethan today, as well as a small gift today, for Father’s Day. Other than that, it was a typical Sunday. I spent most of the morning doing yardwork, and finished with a swim in the pool. Sean and Ethan joined me for the swim.

We followed the swim with lunch. Ethan took a nice long nap, but Sean was tired most of the afternoon. Since I will likely be missing dinner for the next week, due to my class, I fixed dinner for everyone this evening. I made sweet and sour chicken, which everyone seemed to enjoy. It wasn’t the most exciting day, but certainly satisfying to me.

Dinner and a Movie

June 19, 2004 on 9:48 pm | In Main | No Comments

Cortney and I went out for a dinner and a movie, just the two of us. We started off with the movie first, going to see the latest Harry Potter movie for an afternoon matinee. We followed up with a nice dinner, and even did some quick shopping together. It was nice spending time alone, and we appreciate Corky and Leslie watching Sean and Ethan for us.

Friday Trip to Burger King

June 18, 2004 on 7:28 pm | In Main | No Comments

Cortney and I took Sean Ethan to Burger King this evening, leaving Leslie and Corky home for some peace and quiet. The Burger King play area is becoming more popular now with the hot weather. We met a couple there that frequents the play area on Friday’s, like we do, as well as the story time at the Library on Tuesday’s.

So, there were plenty of kids for Sean and Ethan to play with. Sean was a little over-excited at first, but a couple of time-outs cured him of that. Sean and Ethan even played nicely together for awhile. They like climbing up the inside of the tube slide together. We left early for a brief shopping trip, and then went home to put the kids to bed.

Sean Goes to the Dentist

June 17, 2004 on 7:36 pm | In Main | No Comments

This morning was the day for Sean’s regular dental cleaning and checkup. Sean allowed to have his teeth fully cleaned, and allowed the flouride treatment. He was doing well with the x-rays, following instructions, but then he was opening his mouth before the x-ray could be taken. I think this might be related to Sean’s adenoid problem, causing Sean to have to breath through his mouth. Sean was rewarded with a new tooth brush, and a toy from the treasure chest.

Sean is not a selfish person. On the way home from the dentist, he had already decided to give his toothbrush to his mom, and the toy to his grandmother. And sure enough, he carried out is plan when we arrived home.

Another Good Dinner

June 16, 2004 on 8:04 pm | In Main | No Comments

We have been having some good food for dinner lately. Between Cortney and her parents, we have had a good home-cooked meal every night this week. Tonight, Corky made some excellent burgers on the grill. I’m afraid I’m going to get spoiled with this treatment.
