A Normal Day

November 30, 2005 on 8:46 pm | In Main | No Comments

Not much to report today. Cortney made a nice dinner for me, and other than a couple of quick time-outs for jumping on the sofa, Sean and Ethan were well behaved this evening. Sean again missed a karate class, and had tumbling instead. I don’t think Sean minds though.

Floppy is Healthy

November 29, 2005 on 8:04 pm | In Main | No Comments

I was worried about leaving Floppy alone last week, especially since she would be missing a fluid injection. For those who don’t know, Floppy has kidney disease. My worries were alleviated on Sunday. When we came home, she looked healthy, and was happy to see us. Today, Cortney took Floppy for her normal fluid injection, and she did not lose any weight.

We are coming up on three years since Floppy was first diagnosed. She is healthy enough that she should be with us even longer.

Chilly Weather

November 28, 2005 on 8:55 pm | In Main | No Comments

The house was cold this morning, even though I had the heat on. I know when winter weather is here when I can smell the burnt dust on the heating elements.

Sean’s karate teach did not show up this evening, but I was able to switch Sean over to his kindergym class without any problem. Sean needed the exercise, since he was full of energy this evening.

Home

November 27, 2005 on 7:46 pm | In Main | No Comments

We had a tough drive today. We had to put up with crosswinds, dust storms, and tumbleweeds all the way through New Mexico and parts of Arizona. We had heavy traffic from Tuscon to Phoenix.

Still, we arrived home around 2:00 PM, which was our target time. This allowed us to unpack and unwind before starting the regular week tomorrow.

I took Sean and Ethan to the park twice today. The first time, we left early when Sean had to go the bathroom. It was actually good that we left early, as we were not dressed for the cooler weather. The high today was only 60 degrees, and a stiff wind made it quite chilly. The second time, we dressed in jackets, and we were much more comfortable.

On the Way Home

November 26, 2005 on 8:15 pm | In Main | No Comments

We made it to the hotel in El Paso after driving across Texas today. We had heavy rain from Houston to San Antonio, which made for rough driving, but the rest of the trip was easy. Ethan fell asleep before he got here, and went back to sleep right after we put him to bed. We kept Sean up to play some games before putting him to bed.

As long as the kids allow me to get a full night’s sleep, we should have an easy drive home tomorrow.

Last Full Day in Houston

November 25, 2005 on 7:37 pm | In Main | No Comments

Today was the first day here that we did not have good weather. It never did rain, but it was cloudy all day.

Cortney went out shopping this morning with my mother. I thought they would be gone all day, but they were home early in the afternoon.

My brother and his two youngest daughters came over in the morning. The rest of his family went to the movies. Sean, Ethan, and Grace had fun playing, and they were running all over the house. We had quite a challenge afterwards finding all of Sean and Ethan’s toys.

The rest of my brother’s family joined us for dinner. Afterwards, we took some pictures of the entire family, which I might post later.

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 24, 2005 on 8:31 pm | In Main | No Comments

We had a nice Thanksgiving meal today, prepared jointly by my Mom, my brother’s wife, and my brother’s wife’s family. I ate so much that I didn’t do much other than sit around all day, watching TV and spending time with the kids.

A Trip to the Zoo

November 23, 2005 on 6:10 pm | In Main | No Comments

Today we went to the Houston Zoo. It was a really nice day today in Houston, and we had a good time. Sean’s favorite animal was the albino alligator

This afternoon, I took Jacob, Sean, and Ethan to a nearby play area. We started with Jacob taking us to a field to play in, but after we discovered a big mound of fire ants, we moved on. Once we found a playground, we stayed for a while. Everyone was tired out , so it took us a while to walk back. I’m sure Sean and Ethan won’t have any trouble getting to sleep tonight.

Fun In Houston

November 22, 2005 on 7:02 pm | In Main | No Comments

Today was a recovery day for me, but that did not stop Sean and Ethan from having fun.

We walked over to my brother’s house this morning. It’s been three years since we have seen my brother’s family, and all of his kids have grown quite a bit. My brother has five daughters and one son. I doubt Sean remembers much of his older cousins, and he has not yet met his two youngest cousins.

Sean and Jacob, the only boy in Scott’s family, hit it off right away. They had fun playing this morning, and Jacob joined us for a trip to the park this afternoon. It was a neat park on Galveston Bay, including a pier. We may go back again.

My Mom made an excellent catfish dinner tonight. Sean and Ethan did not care for the food, but that just meant there was more for me.

We Made It

November 21, 2005 on 9:57 pm | In Main | No Comments

After over 1200 miles of driving, we made it to our destination. We arrived just before 10:00 PM. I’m a little tired, so I am not going to mention any details of our trip this evening.

We’re In Texas!

November 20, 2005 on 5:39 pm | In Main | No Comments

We made it to our hotel this evening. We are staying at exit 0 off I10, right at the Texas border. It only took seven hours to reach here from Phoenix.

I printed out a AAA Triptik to help us on our trip. I like to check frequently to find how far we have gone. Sean saw this, and became fascinated with the maps. I had to teach Sean about the mile makers, so he could help me find where we were on the map. Even though he asked almost every five minutes where we were on the map, it was better than the famous “Are we there yet?”.

Sean and Ethan were both well behaved in the car. They both made it to planned rest room stops, so we made good time. Tomorrow will be a bit more of a challenge. We have to cross the state of Texas, and I estimate it will take about twelve hours.

A Busy Day

November 19, 2005 on 8:41 pm | In Main | No Comments

Today was a busy day. I did the yard work today, since we are leaving tomorrow. It was a really nice day out, and I ended up spending most of the afternoon outside.

We also did all the laundry and most of the packing today.

We did manage to squeeze in some fun. I took Sean and Ethan to the park before lunch, and we all went out to dinner this evening.

Family Night at Burger King

November 18, 2005 on 10:13 pm | In Main | No Comments

We all went out to Burger King this evening, although Cortney left after eating to do some shopping. Sean and Ethan haven’t played in the ball pit for a while, so they had a good time this evening.

Slow News Day

November 17, 2005 on 7:53 pm | In Main | No Comments

Not much to report today. Sean enjoyed his gym class this evening. Everyone is excited about our upcoming trip to Texas. Sean in particular likes telling everyone he is going to Texas.

Sean Improves His Karate

November 16, 2005 on 7:53 pm | In Main | No Comments

I took Sean to karate to make up a class we missed last week. Sean worked on a difficult combination, and he did fairly well at it.
