Sean Has a Rough Night

December 15, 2005 on 9:31 pm | In Main | No Comments

Today was the day for the big kindergarten christmas show. Cortney made special plans. She arrived early, so she could grab a front row seat so we could video the show. I arrived later on, dropping Sean off at the classroom, then bringing Ethan to join Cortney.

Earlier in the evening, Sean was complaining that his stomach hurt. He has been saying this for the last few days, so I did not thing anything of it.

I made it to Sean’s classroom with five minutes to spare. While we were waiting, Sean had a small accident with a bit of diarrhea. I knew I did not have enought time to take Sean home, so I cleaned him up in the one of the school restrooms. Ethan had diarrhea last week, so I wasn’t surpised that Sean was just a bit sick. I successfully cleaned up Sean for the show, and Sean made it to the classroom on time.

What I was surprised at was when one of the helper moms came up and said that Sean had thrown up. I left Ethan with Cortney and went to help Sean again. I quickly learned that Sean had thrown up onto another girl, and the teachers were frantically trying to clean her up. They delayed the show by five minutes so the girl could make it.

Poor Sean was upset. I carried him to the car, and we all went home, missing the show. I don’t think his illness is a big deal, but the timing certainly wasn’t convenient. Oh well. Sean will have more school shows.

We are going to try to find out the girls name so we can apologize to her and her parents.

Just One More Day!

December 14, 2005 on 7:50 pm | In Main | No Comments

The countdown is nearing an end. Just one more work day left this year.

Sean and Ethan haven’t been too hungry at dinner time lately. I know they always eat a big breakfast and a decent lunch, but I’m surprised they aren’t a little bit more hungry at dinner time. I think part of the problem may be they are tired. Ethan crashed right after dinner. Sean had fun at his gym class, but he was definitely tired after that.

Winding Down the Work Year

Two more work days until my winter vacation begins!

Last year on this date, we took a trip to the North Pole.

A Cloudy Day

December 12, 2005 on 7:51 pm | In Main | No Comments

It was cloudy all day today. I think the gray morning had something to do with Sean and Ethan sleeping in today. Cortney barely had time to get them ready for school.

The gym Sean goes to is looking for a new karate instructor, so Sean took kinder gym class this evening. I asked Sean if he prefers karate or kinder gym, and Sean’s answer is “I like them both”. Sean certainly had a good time at class tonight. My favorite was when Sean practically dove off the balance beam into the big pit. Sean let out a scream as he did this, and he was admonished for making too much noise.

A Christmas Party

December 11, 2005 on 7:24 pm | In Main | No Comments

We went to a Christmas party, hosted by one of the moms in Sean’s kindergarten class. They had a jumpie, and snack food, so Sean and Ethan were happy.

I didn’t do much else today. The party was from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and I just didn’t have enough energy to do anything else.

Start of the Holidays

December 10, 2005 on 8:29 pm | In Main | No Comments

This morning, Sean and Ethan went to see Santa (at the outlet mall):

This evening, we went out to dinner, then went to see the nearby Christmas boat parade. Cortney went early, and camped out a spot and set down some portable chairs. I stayed with the kids, and made some hot chocolate to bring with us. I brought the kids just a bit early, but Sean met a friend so he had someone to play with.

I don’t know if we were just to early for the boat parade, but we only saw about ten boats or so. The most memorable part was when one of the boats threw candy canes on the shore. Sean and Ethan were both able to get one. One of the boats was really impressive, with a dragon theme.

Burger King Again

December 9, 2005 on 9:25 pm | In Main | No Comments

Sean and Ethan both wanted to go to Burger King this evening, so there we went. Sean made a good impression on at least two of the kids there, and he had lots of fun playing. I even let Sean and Ethan stay past their bedtime, since they were having so much fun.

A Trip to the Dentist

December 8, 2005 on 7:40 pm | In Main | No Comments

I took Sean and Ethan to the dentist this morning. Actually, I took Sean, then the receptionist reminded me that Ethan had an appointment afterwards, and Cortney brought Ethan, and picked up Sean when he was done.

This was Ethan’s first trip to the dentist. Ethan did well, allowing his teeth to be cleaned and x-rayed. Ethan’s teeth are all straight, but he has an overbite, which might need correcting later on.

A Chilly Day

December 7, 2005 on 6:16 pm | In Main | No Comments

It was a bit cool today. On the way to work this morning, temperatures were in the 30’s.

The cooler weather did not stop us from going to the park though; the kids wore sweatshirts, and I took a jacket. We were comfortable, but did not stay long because of a bathroom accident.

That was too bad, the kids were wound up after dinner, and really wanted to play. They settled down shortly after we came back. Then, we worked on Sean’s Christmas tree project for his school.

And finally, both Sean and Ethan went to bed without any complaints, despite not getting much exercise. Ethan even asked to go to bed a few minutes early.

No Library Tonight

December 6, 2005 on 7:45 pm | In Main | No Comments

Ethan was sound asleep when I came home from work. He may be sick, but he was definitely tired. We ended up missing our trip to the library because he was sleeping. I just couldn’t wake him up; he looked so cute curled up in the big chair. Sean tried his best to wake up Ethan by yelling, but that had no effect. Ethan finally woke up later on, just in time for him to go to bed.

A Decent Christmas Display

December 5, 2005 on 7:24 pm | In Main | No Comments

We finally have the Christmas lights and displays all working. Well, almost. We have half a string not working. I just need to find the broken bulb and replace it. I have to say it doesn’t look too bad (the whole setup, not the half string that isn’t working).

More Christmas Decorations

December 4, 2005 on 7:18 pm | In Main | No Comments

We put up even more Christmas decorations today. Unfortunately, we can’t see them all lit at the moment. We added more decorations to the other side of the yard. I connected the new items at the end of the icicle lights along the roof, and apparently that was too much current for the fuse in those lights. We’ll get if fixed up tomorrow.

We also decorated the tree today. I put on the lights, Sean and Ethan put up a few ornaments each, and Cortney did the rest.

Start of the Holiday Season

December 3, 2005 on 6:45 pm | In Main | No Comments

We had plans to go to the zoo today, but Sean woke up with a case of croup, so we cancelled those plans.

That allowed us time to pick up a christmas tree, and put on the lights and decorations outside the house. I think this is too early to start celebrating Christmas. Cortney has other ideas, and apparently she has plenty of company.

Burger King Night

December 2, 2005 on 9:11 pm | In Main | No Comments

We all went to Burger King this evening, although Cortney left after eating to go shopping. The highlight of the night, other than watching the teenage girls being thrown out of the play area, was Ethan doing a number 1, then later a number 2, in the bathroom. We might just get this potty training thing done after all.

Gingerbread Cookies

December 1, 2005 on 7:51 pm | In Main | No Comments

Cortney, with the help of Sean and Ethan, made some pretty good gingerbread cookies, shaped like gingerbread men, complete with red hots for buttons.

Sean did his third tumbling class this week. He is all caught up on tumbling, but still has some karate classes to make up.
