A Successful Day

So far, my projects and efforts since I have left Cortney and the kids have not been very successful. Well today, I think things are turning around.

This morning, I was able to complete a 3 mile run. I tried last week, but did not do well. The main reason why was that I had exercised the afternoon before, and this time, I took a day break. While I was out running, I was able to survey some of the damage from the wind storm last night. A house a block away lost a mesquite tree, just like I did a couple of years ago. And at a nearby construction site, 4 by 8 sheets of plywood blew across the road. Our house and yard did just fine.

And this afternoon, I brought my old computer back to life! At first I though I had a failed motherboard, and then I thought a had a failed hard drive, and eventually I realized both were bad. I had two hard drives in that system, so I just tossed the failed one. And I ordered a new motherboard on ebay, paying just 30 bucks (including the shipping cost). I’m installing all of the Microsoft patches as I write this.

The rest of the day was spent doing some heavy yard work. The palo verde tree by the play area has now been thinned out, so it will be better able to survive these monsoon-driven wind storms.
