Happy Halloween

October 31, 2006 on 8:10 pm | In Main | No Comments

This year, we did just in time carving of the pumpkin. I was putting the finishing touches on the pumpkin just as the first trick-or-treaters showed up.

Speaking of trick-or-treaters, here is the local crew (Ryan is on the right):

Cortney and Stephanie took the kids out first. After Ethan and Ryan tired out, they came home, and I took just Sean out. I tried to get Sean to say “hand over your women and children”, to go with his pirate outfit, but Sean told me that wasn’t a nice thing to say.

Still Recovering

October 30, 2006 on 5:55 pm | In Main | No Comments

Sean was sick again last night, and I had a relapse in the middle of the night as well. Everyone else, including our guests, seem to be doing fine. As I am writing this, Sean and I are at home, and everyone else is out having dinner.

Today, Cortney’s friend Stephanie and her son Ryan flew in from Florida to stay with us for a few days. I hope they don’t get the stomach virus that has been bugging us.

Sean and Ethan had fun playing with Ryan today. Ryan will be 2 years old in a few weeks, so he’s a bit younger than our kids, but that didn’t stop the fun.

I wanted to post some pictures taken with my phone today, but I can’t figure out how to get them off the camera. I ordered a card reader from Amazon which would make the job easy, but it hasn’t arrived yet.

A Recovery Day

October 28, 2006 on 9:29 pm | In Main | No Comments

Today was a good day to take it easy and recover from the virus we all had last week. I feel fine, although my digestive system isn’t 100%. I walked over to the grocery store to pick up some yogurt to see if that would help.

Cortney at least had a day away from it all. She had her MOMS club luncheon, which took up most of the day, and went out again to join some of the moms for Bunco.

Sean became sick again late this evening, which worries me on a number of fronts. I suspect he just isn’t eating the right foods for his system to recover, but who knows.

Junk Food

October 27, 2006 on 10:24 pm | In Main | No Comments

With Cortney’s party yesterday and Halloween coming up, we have an excess of candy and junk food around the house. I don’t think anyone in the house is back on a full diet yet, so it’s just too easy to snack on what’s lying around. I suppose Sean and Ethan will burn off all that sugar, the question is about the adults…

We went to a Halloween party at Ethan’s school this evening. It wasn’t much, but both Sean and Ethan had a good time. There were plenty of games, with opportunities to take home even more candy. Yeah! I took some pictures with my new phone, so I suppose I will have to post the pictures up here sometime.

A Good Day

October 26, 2006 on 7:19 pm | In Main | No Comments

Today was a good day for us. Sean made it through a full day of school, I made it through a full day of work, and Cortney had a successful Halloween party. Ethan even ate the party treats without getting sick. I believe we have seen the last of this sickness thing.

The Illness That Won’t Go Away

October 25, 2006 on 7:15 pm | In Main | No Comments

Yesterday, I thought everyone was over this illness thing, but Ethan threw up last night, and Sean had to be picked up from school due to diarrhea. I think this might be mainly because their systems are not up to eating certain foods. I know I am still watching what I eat.

Cortney is still tired and run down, and she is having a tough time getting ready for her big Halloween party tomorrow.

Tired Parents

October 24, 2006 on 7:25 pm | In Main | No Comments

Everyone is feeling better today, but Cortney and I are still tired. I slept in late this morning, then left early to take a nap in order to make it through the day.

Sean is doing just fine, and he had no problem managing school and gym class.

Family Sick Day

October 23, 2006 on 7:17 pm | In Main | No Comments

Cortney and Sean were sick last night, and I caught it too this morning. I had originally planned to take off work just to help Cortney out, but after I woke up I started feeling queasy. Sean recovered quickly today, leaving two healthy kids, and two sick parents. Not a good combination.

Hopefully, Cortney will follow Sean in recovery tomorrow. If I can get a good night’s sleep, I should be able to make it through the day.

Another Stomach Virus?

October 22, 2006 on 8:13 pm | In Main | No Comments

I thought things were too good to be true when Sean and Ethan both took a nap this afternoon. Ethan took his normal nap, but Sean threw up after he got up from his nap. Later on, Cortney became sick as well. I might have to take off work just to take care of everyone else.

Picture Day

October 21, 2006 on 10:49 pm | In Main | No Comments

Today, we had pictures taken, both of Ethan for his fourth birthday, and for the family for Christmas pictures. This time, we got pictures on a CD, and I plan to post them on the gallery page tomorrow.

In other news, Sean, Ethan, the dog and I all had a nice time at the park this afternoon. Actually both parks near us. It was a little warm in the sun today, but both parks have enough shade to overcome that problem.

Run Down

October 20, 2006 on 8:57 pm | In Main | No Comments

I’m feeling a bit run down today. Wednesday night, I got hit by whatever Ethan had. It was actually a mild intestinal virus, but it hit me at 2:00 in the morning, and I did not get enough sleep that night, and I still haven’t caught up on my sleep.

Not much else is new. We like our new front-loading washing machine, and Cortney likes her new cell phone. Her new phone was free, as part of a new phone every two year deal. The phone takes decent pictures, and can also act as a music player. I ordered one for myself as well, but I had to go through the company discount service, which takes a few extra days to process the order.

Sean’s Report Card

October 18, 2006 on 7:16 pm | In Main | No Comments

Sean received his report card for the first quarter today. Sean is a satisfactory or above in all areas except reading. Sean has all of the basics down for reading, so I think he will be caught up by the next report card. Sean also had perfect attendance and zero marks for behavioral issues. Good job Sean!

Ethan was sick today, and had to be taken out of preschool. He threw up once in school, and once again when he came home. I hope he gets better, and that no one else gets sick.

Advanced Pumpkin Carving

Cortney has me carve a pumpkin every year, and I try to do some good designs, but I will never reach this level.

A Nice Evening

October 16, 2006 on 7:05 pm | In Main | No Comments

We had more rain yesterday morning, just enough to dampen outdoor activities. We had no such impediment this evening, and Sean, Ethan, Princess and I had a nice walk and spent time at both of the nearby parks.
