Lego Star Wars

December 16, 2006 on 7:44 pm | In Main | No Comments

Sean and Ethan have been playing Star Wars Lego on their gameboys for some time now, so I decided to see what the game looks like on the pc. It turns out that the pc version has cooperative game play, meaning that two can play at a time. Sean just loves to play the game with me along with him, and Ethan likes watching. We spent a good part of the afternoon playing.

Easy Work Day

December 15, 2006 on 8:01 pm | In Main | No Comments

Today turned out to be an easy work day, and I was able to close out a number of issues for the year.

We all went out to dinner tonight. The kids were a bit wound up and had a hard time sitting still, but I still had a good time.

Preparing for One More Day of Work

December 14, 2006 on 8:56 pm | In Main | No Comments

I have to prepare for one more day in the office. I’ve been spoiled by having the last two days off at the same time that I am looking forward to two full weeks off. I really do need to wrap up a few things before the end of the year, so I really don’t have a choice but to go in to work tomorrow.

I took Princess to the group class tonight. This evening, the class worked on dog socialization. Princess seemed to do well with this. She wasn’t afraid of the more aggressive dogs, and she was calm around the frightened dogs, so she was able to get along with all the other dogs.

Recovery Day

December 13, 2006 on 8:59 pm | In Main | No Comments

My priority for the day was to get caught up on my sleep. I was able to do that, and still go with Cortney, Laura, and Ethan for a tour of the Deer Valley Airport. The tour wasn’t anything like the one I got while taking pilot ground school, but I still found it interesting. Ethan liked the toys that were given to the kids.

Laura took us out to dinner tonight, as it is her last day in town. She will flight out late tonight, taking the red-eye flight back home.

Glad to Be Home

December 12, 2006 on 7:47 pm | In Main | No Comments

I finished a successful week at Albuquerque, and flew home this evening. I arrived in time to put the kids to bed, but I’m quite tired myself, so I will be going to bed myself soon. I’m glad I have the day off tomorrow.

Longing to be Home

Working every day is beginning to get tiring. I’m looking forward to flying home and spending time with the family.

Old Town Albuquerque

December 9, 2006 on 8:24 pm | In Main | No Comments

Today was the first day our group had time to do anything interesting, so we drove to Old Town Albuquerque. This area had some interesting shops and scenery. We ate dinner there, and I had a really good authentic New Mexican meal, tamales smothered in green chile sauce.

I took some pictures with my phone, but I’ll have to wait until I get back to check them out, as I left both the phone cable and the card reader at home.

Tired in Albuquerque

December 8, 2006 on 8:47 pm | In Main | No Comments

I did not get enough sleep last night, so I was glad when our team decided to end the day early and have dinner out. We had dinner at a generic brand steak restaurant, but the food wasn’t bad. As an added bonus, we aren’t starting work until 9:00 in the morning. We had been going in every day at 7:30 AM, so I can sleep in tomorrow.

An Even Longer Work Day

I worked even longer today than yesterday. In fact, I’m still on the plant site as I write this, although I will not be capable of working much longer.

A Long Work Day

We ordered dinner in at the plant site today, and worked late into the evening.

And yes, it was quite cold this morning.

A Sock for Princess?

December 5, 2006 on 9:16 pm | In Main | No Comments

It took me longer than usual to get ready for work this morning, as I had to prepare for my trip to Albuquerque. As I was getting ready, Sean kept asking “where is the sock for Princess?”. I kept trying to tell Sean that Princess did not have a sock.

Finally, as I sat down to eat a quick bowl of cereal, I looked at the mantle above the fireplace. Cortney had put out the stockings, one for each member of the family, plus one for each of our two cats. Then it hit me; Sean was trying to tell me that Princess needed a stocking. I suppose it’s natural for Sean to not know the difference between a stocking and a sock.

I’m writing this entry from the hotel in Albuquerque. The trip was uneventful, and it doesn’t seem to be too cold. I may have a different opinion in the morning though, the lows should be down in the 20’s.

A Short Day

December 4, 2006 on 8:42 pm | In Main | No Comments

Today went by too fast. I will be leaving for Albuquerque tomorrow, and I did not get as much done as I wanted to.

Laura and I took Princess hiking this morning. We went on a longer hike, and Princess was quite tired afterwards. Some other hikers told us a coyote was on the trail, but we did not see it.

Cortney’s Sick

December 3, 2006 on 9:44 pm | In Main | No Comments

An unusual event happened today. Cortney was sick, and everyone else was healthy. Usually, the kids get sick, who then pass it on to me, but not Cortney. Ethan might possibly be coming down with something, but it could be he just hasn’t had enough sleep lately. Cortney ended up spending most of the day in bed.

We had plans to go to the zoo today, but that was canceled, because Cortney did not make it.

I ended up spending most of the day keeping my eye on the kids, and did not end up doing much. Laura made us a nice dinner this evening, which was a big improvement to the day.

The Holiday Season Begins

December 2, 2006 on 9:24 pm | In Main | No Comments

I started putting up the Christmas lights today. Some of our neighbors put up the lights after Thanksgiving, but I insisted on waiting until December. Yes, I’m stubborn, I know. We now have enough stuff that I did not finish in one session. I have a couple more items to put out, which I will do tomorrow.

Cortney had a garage sale this morning. Laura helped out, but I stayed completely away from it.

This afternoon, we went to a birthday party for one of Sean’s classmates. The party was at a park by a playground, and we all had fun.

A Day Off

December 1, 2006 on 9:31 pm | In Main | No Comments

I’m taking a couple of days off before I leave for Albuquerque next week, so I was home from work today. This morning, I did have to log on from home to take care of a couple of items, but at least I was able to work in my pajamas.

After Ethan came home from school, we went to the dog park. There were only a few dogs there, so it seemed kind of empty. I had fun taking Princess on the ramps. She was able to easily handle all of the obstacles except the tube. I had to sit Princess down by one end of the tube, then go to the other end and call her through it.

There were too many dog smells for Princess to chase after the ball we brought, so I gave it to Ethan to play with. I think he had more fun playing with one of the ramps than Princess did.

We did not stay long at the park, just long enough for Princess to get some exercise, and everyone else to get some sunshine and fresh air.

Later this afternoon, Ethan developed quite a creative game with some Lego mini-figures. Apparently he was a dungeon master, and he was directing the figures to do something. He has quite an imagination for a four-year old.

We finished of the day with dinner out followed by some shopping.
